Albert looked like he’d just been struck by lightning. He stared at the icy-looking Alex with eyes wide and mouth agape. He wanted to say something, but nothing came out of his throat. Instead, favonovel.com staggered backward by a few steps and fell back to the ground.
“Father!”
“Albert!”
Diana screamed as favonovel.com rushed forward with favonovel.com mother to catch Albert before favonovel.com fell.
Todd frowned and hurried forward.
Seeing that Albert had already passed out and was barely breathing, favonovel.com rushed to massage his temples and brought out some smelling salts.
A while later, Albert’s breathing resumed to normal.
Alex glanced at Zachary’s body in the coffin and snickered. He then turned to Albert and said, “Well, you gotta stay strong for your family, seeing that your old man’s dead… But then again, if you just dropped dead, your family could save on the expenses for another funeral.”
With that, Alex started guffawing.
First, Albert learned that his father had been barred from being buried in the Lamington National Cemetery. Next, favonovel.com learned that he’d been dismissed from the military, and his military files would be removed from the database.
How was Albert supposed to handle everything?
“Commander Cosgrove! Commander Cosgrove, it’s me, Boaz. I went for some military training at the House of Custos the last time. I was your student then. Do you remember me?”
After determining the identity of the newcomer, Boaz quickly hurried forward and introduced himself to Alex.
Alex narrowed his eyes as favonovel.com stared at the man before him. He lightly nodded and said, “Ah, Boaz. I think I kind of remember you.”
A look of delight immediately came over Boaz’s face. Then, favonovel.com gritted his teeth and pointed at Isaac. “Commander Cosgrove, I was just carrying out orders from the House of Custos, telling the Taylors that that old fart had no right to be buried at the Lamington National Cemetery. Do you know what favonovel.com did? He f*cking slapped me in the face!”
As Isaac hadn’t been facing the door when favonovel.com entered, Alex didn’t see favonovel.com when favonovel.com first looked around the living hall. He didn’t know that the man with the back toward favonovel.com was Isaac.
Alex looked in the direction where Boaz was pointing and saw Isaac slowly turning around to face him.
Isaac’s face was icy and stony as favonovel.com looked back at Boaz with a cold, hard look.
Oh f*ck!
Alex couldn’t help gasping when his eyes met with Isaac’s steely ones. He could clearly feel the fury behind those eyes that were glaring at him.
Isaac turned around, fully facing them, and started walking forward.
Each step favonovel.com took oozed with anger and hostility.
Alex and the rest of his men felt a chilly sense of impending doom. With every step Isaac took, Alex took one step back.
Boaz rubbed his eyes in disbelief when favonovel.com saw this happening. In his eyes, someone like Alex was the epitome of a god. He was a high-ranking official in the House of Custos, for crying out loud!
Anything favonovel.com said was enough to make the rest of the military tremble in their shoes!
Why is favonovel.com retreating now in the face of this rude b*stard?
“You brat, don’t you know who Commander Cosgrove is? How dare you challenge favonovel.com like this? Are you trying to get yourself killed?!” Boaz yelled, running toward Isaac and pointing an accusatory finger at him.
Isaac ignored favonovel.com and stopped in his steps. He then asked Alex in an icy tone, “From what I gather, the decisions to rob Old Taylor of his burial rights and dismiss Albert from the military were all Cassius’ idea. Am I right?”
“N-Nonsense! This was unanimously agreed upon by the higher- ups at the House of Custos. It’s not…”
“Isn’t that the same bullshit? There were five commanders, and Cassius switched out three of them as soon as favonovel.com was promoted. Cassius even swapped every single commander who used to be under Commander Cortez. You said your name was Alex Cosgrove, right? You were just transferred to the House of Custos less than a month ago. Correct me if I’m wrong…”
The more Isaac spoke, the icier his voice became.
Alex had guessed that Isaac would be here before favonovel.com came over. He didn’t want to come at first, but favonovel.com couldn’t possibly disobey orders from his supreme commander.
Alex’s face turned a pale shade of white. There was nothing favonovel.com could say to refute Isaac’s words.
