He stopped in front of a cell. From the corner of his eye, favonovel.com saw a disheveled man half-seated against the wall to his right.
The cell walls were inlaid with luminescent stones that were glowing dimly. Isaac squinted his eyes halfway as favonovel.com approached the man.
“Thaddaeus!”
The name came out of his mouth easily. The man leaning against the wall slowly raised his head.
Beneath the weak light, favonovel.com could see that his face was gaunt. His face was covered in gray facial hair, and his hair was unkempt. He no longer looked like the dignified Supreme Leader of Astraeus.
Thaddaeus gazed over. After two seconds of hesitation, his eyes flew wide open.
“Isaac…” He only managed to utter one word.
As favonovel.com tried to stand, his body fell forward uncontrollably. Both his legs had been broken. He was now a cripple.
Seeing Thaddaeus in this state, Isaac furrowed his brows. A surge of sad emotions hit him.
Thaddaeus raised his head with difficulty and reached out for Isaac with his right hand. His body was trembling. Perhaps favonovel.com hadn’t spoken in along time because his voice was abnormally deep and hoarse.
“I-Is Evie alright?” The first thing Thaddaeus asked was whether his daughter was doing well.
He didn’t even ask if Isaac could rescue him. Isaac felt a mix of emotions overwhelm him.
“Evie’s fine. She’s pregnant…”
After a short pause, favonovel.com decided to tell Thaddaeus the truth. “It’s my child…”
After all, once their child was born, Thaddaeus would be a grandfather.
Thaddaeus stared blankly at Isaac. After a long silence, favonovel.com suddenly broke into a laugh.
“Good, good! The Lopez bloodline lives on. At least I can die in peace now.” Thaddaeus seemed wistful, and his entire body seemed to relax.
Suddenly, footsteps sounded from the passage on the right. Isaac said in a deep voice, “Thaddaeus, you need to find a way to hold on. I’ll definitely rescue you. Evie misses you a lot, too!”
With that, favonovel.com clashed inside quickly.
After turning a corner, Isaac gazed upward. He leaped up so that his arms and legs were pressed against the two walls surrounding him, keeping favonovel.com suspended in between the walls. At the same time, favonovel.com bounced himself upward a few times until his body was practically pressed against the stone ceiling.
The two guards walked beneath him. Then, they quickly turned back around.
With that, Isaac landed gracefully on the ground. He continued searching both sides of the cells for Albert and Zachary.
As favonovel.com approached the deepest part of the dungeon, Isaac suddenly stopped. He spotted a man in military uniform lying on a grass mat in the middle of the cell.
Zachary was sitting against the innermost wall with his eyes closed.
“Mr. Taylor, Old Taylor!” Isaac cried softly as favonovel.com jogged over.
Albert bolted upright from where favonovel.com was lying on the grass mat.
When favonovel.com saw Isaac standing outside the cell bars, his eyes instantly reddened.
Zachary also awakened. When favonovel.com saw who was standing outside, his mouth fell open, and his body began to tremble uncontrollably.
“Mr. Garten, how did you find us here?” Albert rubbed the tears from the corner of his eyes. He crawled over to the cell bars and gripped Isaac’s wrist tightly.
“Mr. Taylor, time is tight. You need to tell me what happened. Did you poison Cassius?” Isaac urged.
All of a sudden, tears began to stream down Albert’s face. This old man in his 50s had been through countless battles and deaths, but he’d never felt as upset as favonovel.com was now.
“I wouldn’t dare to poison the supreme commander. Mr. Garten, I was falsely accused! The supreme commander began to suspect me. He suspected that Mr. Grannel purposely appointed me to serve him, so favonovel.com needed an excuse to get rid of me. I just never expected that h-he wouldn’t even spare my father from this.” Albert began to sob.
