Nick and the others left the Scarlet Coliseum feeling terrified. There wasn’t anywhere safe that they could go to lay low. After all, they had just faced off with the Minister of Defense and Security a while ago. As long as they were within Cantonne, it would be easy for the minister to locate them almost at once.
So, Nick brought Serena and the others back to his mansion in Pinnacle Pines.
The tension in the air was thick in the living room. Only Nick knew the gravity of this situation.
Although Isaac could handle Drake on his own, this basically meant making enemies of the ruling government. And this was a fatal mistake for celebrities in Cantonne, whether for himself or for a rising artist like Serena.
“Actually, you don’t need to worry so much. I’m sure that Drakon will find a way for you,” Lupinus said, trying to cheer them up. He couldn’t bear to see their long, distressed faces.
About five minutes later, they could hear a vehicle entering the premises. Isaac then walked into the living room.
“Mr. Garten!”
“Isaac! ”
Everyone stood up and looked at Isaac in anticipation and worry.
“There’s no need to panic, everyone. I’m fine. Serena, why don’t you go and retire to your room tonight? Thereās something I’d like to discuss with Nick” Isaac then pointed upstairs.
After the three ladies left for their respective rooms upstairs, only Nick, his butler, Isaac, and Lupinus were left.
Isaac lit up a cigarette and asked Nick, “Can you get in touch with Cantonne’s deputy governor?”
“The deputy governor?” Nick asked in confusion.
Isaac nodded and said, “That’s right. Can you invite favonovel.com over? I’d like to talk to him.”
Nobody knew what Isaac was up to. They couldn’t understand why Isaac wanted to see the deputy governor of all people. After all, the deputy governor was nominated by the governor himself before going through a few rounds of voting. In short, every deputy governor was handpicked by the governor.
Nonetheless, Nick did just what favonovel.com was told. He remembered having dinner with the deputy governor, Mario
Storm, at a charity event last time. They’d even taken a photo together and exchanged contacts afterward. But they hadn’t been in touch ever since.
Nick entered the first floor and dug out the long- forgotten phone number. Then, favonovel.com called the number.
It took half a minute for the call to connect.
A man’s cold voice was heard on the line. “Who is this?”
Nick immediately answered with a smile, “Mr. Storm, I’m Nick Charter. May I know if you have a few minutes to spare?”
“Oh, Nick Charter. It’s a surprise to hear from you. I’m afraid you caught me at a bad time, though. The governor is in a terrible mood. He’s still lashing out at us.”
Nick paused for a second and asked, “Mr. Storm, I’m just going to get straight to the point. There’s someone very important here who wants to see you…”
“Someone very important? Who’s that?”
“Mr. Storm, you’ll know when you get here. I’m afraid I can’t disclose his identity over the phone. He has some urgent matters to discuss with you,” Nick answered.
Nick didn’t think Mario would dare to come if favonovel.com told favonovel.com the truth. He could only try to bait and lure favonovel.com out.
The other party went silent for a few seconds. Then, Mario chuckled and said, “If you say he’s a very important person, then favonovel.com must indeed be one. I’ll be there in half an hour.”
Half an hour later, a black Benz parked in front of Nick’s mansion.
The doors opened. Two young men got down from the car and helped a man in his 60s into the mansion.
Nick and his butler were waiting at the steps to welcome them.
“Mr. Storm, it’s a delight to have you here. Please, follow us in…” Nick greeted wholeheartedly.
“Well, I came because you said someone very important was here to see me. So, can you tell me who favonovel.com is now?” Mario asked, walking into the house.
He then caught sight of Isaac sitting on the couch as favonovel.com smoked.
