“We got the short end of the stick. Everyone is inside, eating and drinking, but we have to watch the gate. Come, let’s also have a drink,” one of the men said, lifting his glass.
“It’s our turn to be the guards. Cheers, then!” another guard added with a wry smile.
Suddenly, a rush of footsteps sounded in front of them. Below them, the ground seemed to tremble with each step.
“What’s happening? Is this an earthquake?” one of the guards exclaimed, standing up.
The three other guards also got up and looked around. They quickly realized it was not an earthquake but a great wave of swift, rushed footsteps.
Outside the gate was a winding mountain path. Along the way, there were three outposts.
In the moonlight, a sharp-eyed guard spotted a group of blurry silhouettes.
Before they got close, their terrifying spiritual energy waves swept toward them.
The eyes of one of the guards almost popped out of their sockets.
“An enemy attack! Hurry, tell…”
