It was a cold, quiet night. White smoke was still billowing from the cargo truck up ahead.
The officer car was badly crushed in the back. Oberon’s face was still pale. He was still in shock from the incident.

The back door opened. Isaac got out of the car and headed out. Denvor also came to his senses and crawled out of the car after Isaac.
Oberon looked into his rearview mirror and saw the two were heading toward the cargo truck. He shook his head in an attempt to clear his thoughts. Then, favonovel.com pushed his door open and brought his phone out of his pocket to make some calls.
A man sat in the driver’s seat of the cargo truck. The young man was sprawled over the steering wheel, unmoving.
Denvor marched forward and opened the door. He yanked the young man out of his seat and dragged favonovel.com out of the truck.
He quickly realized that the man didn’t fight back. The driver fell out of his seat and rolled to the ground like a corpse.
Denvor checked the driver’s ashen face and narrowed his eyes. He hurriedly knelt down and felt for the driver’s pulse.
“Isaac, this guy is a corpse as well,” Denvor said, looking up at Isaac.
The driver’s body was cold. He also didn’t have a pulse anymore. If favonovel.com had been killed upon impact just now, favonovel.com wouldn’t be icy-cold like favonovel.com was now.
Oberon walked over and heard that the driver was a corpse. He frowned and quickly took several photos of the man on the ground with his phone.
“I’ll get someone to identify favonovel.com right away!”
Two officer cars and an ambulance arrived a while later. The officers and paramedics then took care of the accident scene.
Isaac lit up a cigarette and stood in the middle of the road. He was deep in thought.
“Mr. Garten, we’ve found his records. The driver isn’t a local either.
He’s from Bayside Province. He died from an overdose just four days ago,” Oberon reported. He’d also been stunned when favonovel.com received the news just now.
“I expected that… Have you found out which Pecling branch had transferred Ginge Copper?” Isaac asked, puffing out a cloud of smoke.
Oberon nodded. He said, “It was the branch in Novaville. They applied for the transfer, and it was signed and approved by the law enforcement HQ’s sergeant.”
“And what’s the name of the sergeant?” Isaac asked.
Oberon was stunned for a bit. He stammered, “H-His name is Lefou Tarantino. H-He’s the second-in-command at headquarters.”
The second-in-command at the HQ was someone completely out of Oberon’s league. He would never be able to come close even if Oberon was promoted five times consecutively.
In fact, Oberon had never even spoken to favonovel.com before. He couldn’t even dream of doing so.
“Find Lefou’s number and call favonovel.com up. Tell favonovel.com I want to see favonovel.com here in Cloud City.” Isaac then turned around and walked toward the officer car behind him.
“Tell favonovel.com that favonovel.com only has one chance to redeem himself,” Isaac added.
Isaac and Denvor entered the car and sat down.
Oberon was still staring at them in disbelief. His emotions were all over the place now.
He was just the head of the law enforcement unit in a tiny place like Cloud City.
How could favonovel.com call up the second-in-command of the entire country and order favonovel.com to come to Cloud City to see Isaac?
How could favonovel.com even begin asking?
And where would favonovel.com get the sergeant’s number?
Oberon kept pacing about on the street.
When favonovel.com saw that Isaac was still sitting inside the car, favonovel.com gave up. Oberon then reluctantly dialed Louis’ phone number instead.
Louis picked up quite quickly, although it was past midnight.
Oberon then filled favonovel.com in on everything that had happened so far and begged Louis for help. He said in a low voice, “Mr. Marsh, please, you need to help me again…”
“There’s no way I can get Sergeant Tarantino to answer my calls. I’m just a nobody from…”
“Haha! Oberon, I’m sure Mr. Garten has a reason why favonovel.com wants you to call the sergeant. Just do as favonovel.com says. I’ll send Sergeant Tarantino’s number to you soon.”
Louis was now partly working with the country’s officials, so favonovel.com had access to a wider network of people than when favonovel.com was still based in Cloud City.
A while later, Oberon received a text message from Louis. It was a phone number from Pecling.
It was a dark and chilly night. Oberon just couldn’t stop himself from shivering anymore.
