The female officer was frightened. She’d been working there for years, and she’d never seen this happening before. This was the first time favonovel.com saw someone beating up all the officers when coming to get his family member out on bail.
But the event somehow got twisted into a different story.
When the news reached the sergeant’s ears, favonovel.com heard that a brute had burst into the Lotus Enforcement Office and was holding everyone hostage.
A while later, a large fleet of armed police set off in several police cars. Sirens blaring, they then rushed to the enforcement office.
The new head of the law enforcement unit, Oberon Waverly, paced angrily in his office. He’d just arrived in Cloud City a while ago.
How could such an incident happen just as I am taking office?
This is a huge blow to my dignity!
The phone suddenly rang. Oberon was stunned. He saw that it was a call from a direct line and picked it up instantly.
“Mr. Huxley! It‘s been a while. How are you doing lately, good?”
“Doing good, Chief Oberon. I call to inform you that Professor Caspian has returned to Cynea as a professional expert in his field. But his mother just got assaulted and is at the Lotus Enforcement Office now… I’d appreciate it if you could look into this matter as soon as possible. You know, Professor Caspian is our most valuable expert at this moment. He had a very high standing and knows the Deputy Mayor too.”
What the hell?!
Oberon suddenly felt a headache coming.
Why was the Lotus Enforcement Office involved again?
“Don’t worry, Mr. Huxley. I’ll look into this matter at once!”
“That’s great. I’ve just emailed you a photo of Professor Caspian. Make sure you don’t get the wrong guy arrested.”
Oberon put the phone back and hung up. Then, favonovel.com took out his mobile phone and made another call. He shouted, “Officer Lysander! Get the car ready. We’re heading over to the Lotus Enforcement Office. This place is going to be the death of me!”
At that moment, an Audi with Southland plates representing a research center stopped before the enforcement office.
A young man in gold-rimmed glasses hurried into the building with an angry look.
“Mommy? Mommy! Where are you?” the man screamed into the building.
His phone rang just then. He answered the call and listened on.
At once, Caspian said, “Thank you, Mr. Huxley. I understand. I won’t let the person who hit my mom get away that easily!”
The sound of sirens grew closer. Caspian knew that the head of the law enforcement unit was on the way, so favonovel.com waited at the entrance.
Inside the interrogation room, Isaac had just lit up his cigarette.
Margaret heard the sirens outside grow louder and louder. She felt favonovel.com heart leaping into favonovel.com throat.
“I-Isaac, will you be okay? You’ve beat up s-so many people. Allegra will be worried…” Margaret then whimpered, “Maybe I should just let them lock me up for a day or two.”
There was the sound of hurried footsteps outside the room.
Isaac just spared favonovel.com a glance and chuckled. He said, “Mom, you’re underestimating me again. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine…”
A few people then appeared at the door. Caspian was the first to barge into the tiny room in his formal attire. He saw the red-headed woman sitting on the floor and widened his eyes in anger.
He exclaimed, “Mommy! What happened to you? Who beat you up like this?”
“Son, it was them! They did this to me! And that man over there called me a monkey! He hit me!” As soon as the woman saw Caspian, favonovel.com cried out loud and pointed at Isaac.
Caspian turned and glared at Isaac, then at Margaret. He pointed at Isaac and screeched, “How dare you beat up my Mommy! I’ll make you pay!”
Suddenly, a few armed policemen rushed into the room. They cocked their guns and pointed them at Isaac.
Oberon then marched into the room with his big belly. He saw at least a dozen of his officers lying on the ground in defeat His face turned red in anger.
“Professor Caspian, is this the person who beat up your mother?” Oberon asked, pointing at Isaac.
Caspian got up and glared daggers at Isaac. He then turned and scoffed at Oberon. “You’ve seen it with your own eyes. My mommy’s nose and mouth are still bleeding. I never thought this country would be like this when I came back. I did not sign up for this.”
Oberon flinched when favonovel.com heard this. After all, Caspian was a professional expert the city had invited back for research.
