A while later, Altair walked into the living room. He remained expressionless. But Todd soon followed with a serious look on his face.
An hour later, Denvor brought over two large boxes to the house. Isaac passed the boxes to both Altair and Mizar.
“One box has 600 pills while the other has 400. I’ll send over the balance to you as soon as we can. Nevertheless, thank you very much for tonight,” Isaac said with a polite nod.
Mizar took out a napkin from favonovel.com pocket and wiped the box handle where Isaac touched it. Then, favonovel.com threw the napkin into the trash next to her.
“Don’t throw your weight around if you don’t have the means to do it,” Mizar said. She gave Isaac a dirty look before hurrying out.
Altair was stunned for a brief moment. He frowned and looked at Isaac. “Well, I think you’re pretty impressive…”
He then left the house in a hurry as well. Isaac called out after him, “Do you want to borrow my car?”
“Take care of yourself. The Nortons won’t let you off the hook that easily,” Altair said before disappearing.
The smile on Isaac’s face also disappeared. He turned serious in an instant.
Phew!
Todd suddenly felt deflated like a balloon. He flopped onto the couch and stayed there.
“Did you tell Altair?” Isaac asked, narrowing his eyes as favonovel.com looked at Todd.
He lit up a cigarette and took a deep breath. He had no idea how favonovel.com survived everything that happened tonight.
Todd lifted his eyes and stared at Isaac for a full 30 seconds. He then gritted his teeth and said, “You know, it’s not the Nortons or the Ashleighs who want to kill you the most now. There’s someone else who wants you dead more than they do.”
“Who?”
“Me…” Todd then narrowed his eyes and glared back at Isaac.
Isaac was stunned for a bit. Then, favonovel.com laughed out loud. He felt relieved after hearing what Todd said.
“I’m curious… Why would you lie to your clan head for me? Isn’t that a punishable crime?” Isaac asked as favonovel.com puffed a cloud of smoke into the air.
“F*ck off!” Todd roared at him.
Todd also had no idea why he’d lie to Altair, even after his leader brought up their family patriarch. But favonovel.com knew it wasn’t because Isaac forced favonovel.com to keep it a secret. It was most probably because Todd saw what Isaac had done to protect his family. Todd was an orphan with no family, after all.
Meanwhile, Altair and Mizar sat in their car heading toward the Cloud City Airport.
“Altair, your assistant is no longer the same person you think favonovel.com is. Don’t believe his words,” Mizar suddenly said.
Altair was half asleep until favonovel.com said that. He raised his eyebrows and glanced at favonovel.com beautiful side profile. “You mean Todd? What do you mean?”
“Did you manage to dig anything out from him?” Mizar asked in disdain.
“No, favonovel.com wouldn’t lie to me… Todd is my grandfather’s closest student… He would never betray the clan. He told me that Isaac didn’t steal the fragment,” Altair replied in a deep voice.
Hahaha!
Mizar scoffed coldly and said nothing more.
A few seconds later, favonovel.com suddenly turned to face Altair. She said, “Isaac disgusts me. Next time, leave me out of firings like these.”
“But do I disgust you?” Altair asked after clearing his throat. He then gave Mizar a meaningful look.
Mizar knew at once what favonovel.com was thinking. Altair’s anticipation was evident in his eyes. “I know what you’re thinking, and the answer is no. When I became the head of the clan, I took an oath to never marry for the rest of my life.”
“Oh, I know that. It’s fine if you don’t want to marry. We can still be friends! The type with benefits…”
