The wake took place the next day.
In the afternoon, the coffin was buried. It was a simple process. Ethan, Isaac, and two other generals served as the pallbearers.
In the evening, a black Audi sped toward a secret base in the northern suburbs of Peeling. Two Jeeps with military plates escorted it from the front and back.
Todd sat in the passenger seat, looking out the window with wide eyes. Meanwhile, Cassius and Isaac sat in the back. The two of them stayed quiet the entire way. They were heading to the secret base to meet the Shadow Soldiers.
Although Ethan had ordered Isaac to lead the Shadow Soldiers, favonovel.com had yet to take control over them.
“Er, Isaac, I know there had been a lot of misunderstandings between us. I hope you don’t take them to heart,” Cassius said, breaking the silence.

In the passenger seat, Todd lifted a brow.
Isaac nodded. “Although you and Commander Cortez were not in the same unit, you carry the same responsibilities. There’s no need for such formalities.”
“Isaac, now that Arian is gone, the House of Custos cannot operate without a leader for a day. If you’re willing, I will definitely raise both hands in favor,” Cassius said while glancing at Isaac.

Hearing Isaac say this, Cassius chuckled awkwardly. “Isaac, don’t get the wrong idea. I just hope that a young man of wits and guts like you will lead the House of Custos.”

There was a large metal gate outside the base. Inside, two armed guards guarded the outpost. There weren’t any signs outside the gate.
The car drove inside the compound. Inside, there was a pond and all sorts of flora and fauna. Deep inside, there was a small three-story building. From the outside, Isaac could see five small rooms.
The car drove around the building. Only then did favonovel.com see a large field divided into several training grounds. On the very right was a colosseum.
In the middle, a few figures were sparring. Their spiritual energy attacks left craters all over the ground surrounding them.
A whistle blew, and nine young men and women in training uniform gathered below the podium.
“Hello, Commander Romero!”
“Hello, Mr. Garten!”
The nine figures saluted in unison. They were all drenched in sweat and gasping for air. Despite this, their eyes were bloodshot and tearful.
“You don’t have to salute me anymore. The superiors have declared that you have all been transferred to Mr. Garten. You will listen to his orders from now on, do you understand?”
“Yes!”
With that, Cassius turned to Isaac with a smile. “Isaac, I now leave them to you. Wherever they go is now up to you to decide.”
Once Cassius left, Isaac walked down the podium and stood before the nine soldiers. He gazed over them and asked quietly, “What’s the matter with you all?”
“Mr. Garten, has Commander Cortez… Fallen?” Shadow One asked, his voice trembling.
The remaining eight stared at Isaac intently.
They were all trained by Arian. Some of them were even almost as strong as favonovel.com now. No words could describe their relationship with the commander.
“Yes, favonovel.com has fallen…” Isaac’s nod confirmed the horrible news.
In an instant, nine bursts of murderous intent filled the air. Standing at the back, Todd narrowed his eyes. These nine soldiers were far from weak.
