Isaac was rooted to the spot. He thought he’d heard wrong.
“Colton, what did you say?”
“D-Drakon, Commander Cortez died an hour ago. His body is currently being transported back to Pecling from Dougs.”
Isaac narrowed his eyes as Arian’s face surfaced in his memories. The latter had called favonovel.com a few days ago. It hadn’t been a week yet.
“Are you injured too?” Isaac could hear Colton’s irregular breathing.
“Yes, but I’m not dying. Drakon…”
Before Colton could finish speaking, another phone call came in.
It was Connor.
Isaac said in a deep voice, “Just take care of your injuries for now. I need to take another call.”
After jumping into the other call, favonovel.com heard Connor’s bereaved voice. “Isaac, I’m sure you’ve heard by now…”
“Connor, just what happened? How did Commander Cortez …” Isaac frowned.
“Mr. Grannel asked you to come here. Let’s meet at the funeral home tonight…”
After hanging up, Isaac tipped his head back and sighed. He thought about calling Allegra and Evie but ultimately decided against it and went to the kitchen to talk to Holly. Then, favonovel.com went to the room on the first floor to see Harry, who was taking a herbal bath.
On the second floor, favonovel.com opened the door to find Erica and Isabella playing with blocks.
He walked in and reached out to hug her.
Unexpectedly, Isabella stepped backward and waved favonovel.com hands. “Don’t come over, Dad. I’m sick, and Uncle Harry said I can only play with Erica.”
“You’re such a good girl, Isabella.” Tears sprang to Isaac’s eyes.
“Dad, when will Erica and I get better? It‘s really hard to sleep at night…” Isabella pouted. She thought favonovel.com was just having a regular cold.
“Don’t worry. I’ll think of a way to cure you. But I have to go away for a few days. You and Erica have to be good, okay?” Isaac smiled from several feet away.
Erica raised favonovel.com head and said softly, “Mister, are you going to fight the bad guys again? You have to be careful.”
“I will… Once I’m back, I’ll bring you all sorts of yummy food.” With that, favonovel.com turned around and walked out of the room.
Todd stood outside the door. He’d seen everything that happened inside earlier.
“You’re the hero of this generation, but you have too many things holding you back.” Todd couldn’t hold back a sigh.
“Are you saying I should be like you, a bachelor who only has himself to care for? How will the country prosper?”
Those words almost gave Todd an aneurysm. He asked huffily, “What do you mean by that, Isaac? I was just saying. You know what? I realized you don’t talk to me much, but when you do, it’s always sarcastic.”
“If you don’t tell me your identity, I’ll annoy you every day,” Isaac snorted coldly before heading downstairs.
After lunch, favonovel.com packed simply and left the house with a travel bag. Todd’s luggage was even simpler, it was just a butcher’s knife.
If it weren’t a private plane, favonovel.com probably wouldn’t have been able to bring it on board.
Todd was amazed after settling in on the plane. To be honest, although favonovel.com was very strong, favonovel.com knew very little about material things.
If favonovel.com didn’t stay in a jungle all year, favonovel.com wouldn’t have appeared by Isaac’s side either because no one knew him.
“Are all these pretty ladies your waitresses?” After the plane took off, Todd pointed at the flight attendants with a look of surprise. To him, stewardesses were still waitresses.
Isaac closed his eyes and ignored him. All favonovel.com could hear in his head was the news of Arian’s death.
