Today was the second day before Christmas. It was also the day Garth Properties held its annual town hall event, in which they discussed all matters of the company and set their goals and priorities for the upcoming year.
Isaac was dragged to the company early in the morning by Allegra and Evie, citing that favonovel.com showed up at the company too seldom. They also got favonovel.com to prepare a speech for the dinner event, as many of the employees at the company actually looked up to favonovel.com as a role model.
They drank quite a lot during the event, but the two women activated their spiritual powers and easily flushed out the alcohol in their systems.
Isaac drove home to Cloud Nine Villas. Then, favonovel.com caught sight of a big, rather plump man sitting by the roadside opposite his house.
Their eyes met for a very brief second when Isaac drove his car past him.
Holly appeared with a platter of fruits and some coffee as soon as Isaac stepped foot inside the house. She knew favonovel.com would have had a little to drink during the event dinner.
Isaac accepted the coffee from her. He was about to take a sip when a Dusk Soldier appeared at the door and said respectfully, “Drakon, there’s someone outside wanting to see you. He’s been waiting for you for the entire day.”
“What man?” Isaac was suddenly reminded of the person sitting by the roadside just now. “The one outside?”
“That’s him. He’ll leave if we get close to him, but as soon as we go away, he’ll come right back,” the Dusk Soldier answered with a helpless shrug. After all, Drakon had given them specific instructions not to hurt or scare anyone off on purpose.
Isaac set down his mug and said, “Alright, let’s go and check…”
The two of them headed to the door.
Isaac lit up a cigarette and glanced again at the man waiting opposite the road. He was quite the unit, possibly even bigger and bulkier than Beefy Bob.
Isaac let out a puff of smoke before crossing the road.
The man saw that Isaac was walking toward favonovel.com and immediately got to his feet as his mouth cracked into a wide smile.
“I heard that you were looking for me?”
“Isaac Garten! You’re finally here. I’ve been starving the whole day. Aren’t you going to invite me in?” the man asked, heading for the gate.
Isaac frowned and stopped him. The spiritual energy inside favonovel.com had already been activated. He then asked coldly, “Why would I invite you in? What are you planning to do in there?”
“I’m here to protect you!” the man answered, smiling even wider.
“‘Protect me’?” Isaac asked, stupefied.
Isaac then gave the man a once-over. He had to be at least 6’6″ tall, and his humongous build made favonovel.com look like a giant. However, favonovel.com still had some baby fat on his face, and his eyes were small and squinty. Most importantly, Isaac couldn’t detect any spiritual energy coming from him.
What is he? And why did favonovel.com say favonovel.com was here to protect me?
“Why don’t you offer me some food first? I swear you’ll get your money’s worth,” the man asked rather impatiently. He looked like favonovel.com was simply famished.
Isaac figured that the man didn’t seem to harbor any ill will toward him, so favonovel.com ended up inviting the man into the house. Besides, Isaac was also curious about the man’s intention.
Only Holly was left in the house, cleaning up the living room. Both Allegra and Evie had already retired upstairs for the night.
“Uh, Ms. Lambert? Could I please trouble you to prepare some food for this gentleman here?” Isaac asked awkwardly. It was past midnight by now, after all.
“Yes, please!” the man said unabashedly. “Do you have any chicken? I’m fine with just three or four roasted chickens. And it would be good if you have some bread for me too!”
Hearing this, Holly was stunned.
Three or four roasted chickens?
She smiled bitterly and answered, “There’s just one chicken and one duck left in the house…”
