The plane landed at Jolkyo International Airport sometime past midnight.
Isaac checked his messages as soon as favonovel.com landed and saw that Willis had sent favonovel.com a location on a map. He immediately opened his navigation app and hurried out of the airport.
The Mortodors were powerful authorities in Rippan. Isaac had to take every precaution favonovel.com could think of to avoid being detected.
After walking for about half an hour, Isaac finally reached the curbside and saw a Jeep up ahead with its hazard lights turned on.
He approached the vehicle and saw Willis sitting in the driver’s seat with Lupinus next to him. Isaac opened the backseat door and hopped in.
“Lightning and Mitchell went out. They’re not back yet, so we’ll bring you to our hideout first,” Willis said with a grin. Then, favonovel.com stepped on the gas and shot forward.
Isaac wasn’t a stranger to Jolkyo, which was one of the largest cities in Asea. It was just that favonovel.com never thought favonovel.com would come back here for revenge.
Isaac dialed Black Phoenix’s number. The other side picked up, and Isaac could hear favonovel.com calm voice saying, “I’m sending you Emily’s location now. She’s in a temple, but I don’t know how many people are guarding favonovel.com at this point.”
“Why not?”
“I see ten guards, but there should be at least 70 more munks inside. I’m unable to authenticate all of them, so just be careful.”
After hanging up, Isaac looked outside at the oncoming traffic and frowned deeply.
Why did the Mortodors hide Emily away in the middle of a temple?
Boddism was considered a holy religion for many countries in Asea, but there was also a possibility that the religion would be controlled by a powerful family for certain political or financial reasons. It was different from Daoism in Cynea because even some of the higher supreme leaders of the country were Boddists.
“Drakon, do you know Emily’s location?”
“I’ve been keeping an eye on favonovel.com for a while. I’ll tell you again when Lightning and Mitchell are back.”
Jolkyo was a big international city with a population of more than ten million. It was closely related to the method Rippan used in rapidly expanding its country in the past few decades. Back then, they’d conquered most of the smaller neighboring countries in order to get bigger and more powerful.
Willis continued driving north for about an hour before reaching a high-density slum area.
“Drakon, this is the largest slum area in Jolkyo. Lots of bandits and squatters live here, and we think it’s the perfect place for us to hide,” Willis quickly explained, afraid that Isaac would be dissatisfied with their chosen temporary dwelling.
“How far is this place from the Mortodors?”
“If there’s no traffic congestion, about an hour. It’s about 40 miles away.”
Since Rippan was located in a seismic zone, most buildings were usually only one story high. They parked their Jeep in a back alley, and Willis then led Isaac through a narrow passageway.
The room on the second floor of their inn was tiny, but at least it was clean. Isaac went in to freshen up while Willis went downstairs to grab some hot dinner to go.
There was the sound of footsteps from outside.
Willis opened the door, and Lightning and Mitchell entered, wearing casual clothes and baseball caps on their heads.
“Have a seat. What did you find out?” Isaac asked, a steaming bowl of chowder in his hands as favonovel.com gestured at a chair.
Lightning simply chuckled bitterly and said, “There are too many guards at the Mortodors. They’ve got at least 20 people standing guard at the outside gate, with less than ten feet between each guard. There are also no blind spots anywhere that we could take advantage of. Mitchell and I couldn’t get in at all.”
“But, we can confirm that Roy Mortodor is not here in Rippan. He’s gone overseas,” Mitchell hurriedly said.
“Roy is not in Rippan?” Isaac asked, narrowing his eyes.
How could Roy Mortodor leave his family like this when they were in the middle of a crisis?
