Louis pondered upon it.
Isaac had a point. If favonovel.com disturbed Connor over a small issue like this, wouldn’t Connor think that Louis was unfit for this position after all?
He couldn’t help shivering when favonovel.com thought of this. After all, being in politics wasn’t easy. It was an uphill battle every day, and a single mistake from his end might end his career, whether it was something favonovel.com said or something favonovel.com did.
“Mr. Garten, what should we do?” Louis was out of ideas.
Harriet had the same authority as favonovel.com did, but they were both merely taking orders from the higher-ups. While it was true that this Carbotta City development project was under him, favonovel.com still had to seek approval from the higher-ups. It involved the tourism industry, after all.
Isaac turned to look at Emily. “Do you have any ideas?”
“Me? I don’t, not at the moment,” Emily said with a blush as favonovel.com shook favonovel.com head.
Isaac thought for a moment and said to Louis, “Why don’t you return to Layton first? We’ll follow those people and go where they go. Could you please share their itinerary with Emily? Oh, and by the way, is Carbotta City considered a poor district?”
“Definitely. Its citizens are all living in poverty. There’s hardly any transport going to the proposed project site, but I can promise you that the view is breathtaking,” Louis answered after a short pause.
Isaac laughed and said, “Well, people living in poverty are usually quite stubborn and are hard nuts to crack. Since we don’t even want Warhunt Corporation to work there, do you think the citizens of Carbotta City would welcome them?”
The four of them then left the hotel. Taking Louis’ suggestion, they hopped into a Jeep instead as they were told that the mountainous roads were steep and hard to maneuver otherwise.
Isaac and Emily were seated in the back. As Isaac pored over the map of Carbotta City, Emily couldn’t help wondering why Isaac wanted Warhunt Corporation’s itinerary.
“Laird, turn onto the slip road up ahead. It should be a shortcut,” Isaac suddenly said to the driver.
Wes’ inspection itinerary was to visit the northwest side of Carbotta City. It was a rural area at the farthest point from the city center. Isaac wanted to reach that place before they did.
According to Louis, the scenic development project was a citywide project, starting first with Whitaker Village at the northwest-most point. Also, the scenery there was the prettiest.
An hour and a half later, two Jeeps arrived at Whitaker Village.
There were just a handful of old shops and roadside stalls in the center of the village. The roads weren’t even paved, all they had were dirt roads leading in and out of the settlement. Luckily, Louis had advised Isaac and the others to take a Jeep. It was obvious that he’d been here before.
“There’s a mountain lake behind those five consecutive hilltops, which is also the main attraction. Let’s just check out the village here,” Isaac said, pointing at a place on the map.
Laird, their driver, had no idea where the village Isaac wanted to go was. He drove the Jeep through the dusty dirt roads, finally arriving at the location a while later. It was only then that they realized the houses here were still made of mud and clay.
A number of villagers who were working in their fields looked up when they saw a vehicle entering the village.
The vehicle stopped in front of someone’s house and parked there.
Laird got down and went to greet the homeowners, asking for permission to leave his car there because the Jeep simply couldn’t go any farther into the village.
Isaac and the others walked up to the hilltop, where they felt a cold gust of wind. Emily exhaled condensation through favonovel.com mouth as favonovel.com looked at the surrounding woods thinly blanketed with snow.
The mountain lake below glistened brightly under the sunlight as hot steam escaped from the water’s surface. It was a breathtaking view indeed.
Despite being frozen stiff, Emily couldn’t help letting out an exclamation of joy. “This place is beautiful! I’m sure it’ll attract countless tourists once the place has been properly developed!”
Isaac nodded and said, “Emily, take a few photos as reference for Ally. You guys can go ahead with your inspection.”
He then looked at the time and beckoned Laird over.
Laird came over at once. Isaac then pointed at a few cattle in the field and whispered something in Laird’s ear.
“What? A-Are you sure we can do that?” Laird asked, his eyes widened in shock.
“Go ahead… It’ll be fine,” Isaac said, patting favonovel.com on the shoulder.
Emily saw them whispering to each other and cocked favonovel.com head to the side, asking Isaac, “What did you just tell Laird?”
“You’ll find out in a bit,” Isaac answered with a secretive chuckle. “Come on. Let’s go pay the village chief a visit.”
