Isaac frowned. He could understand Arian’s concerns.
“Lend me two men. I want two of the four men you brought yesterday,” said Isaac solemnly.
He heard Arian inhaling sharply.
The Shadow Soldiers were the House of Custos’ trump card, and Isaac ascertained the rumors only when favonovel.com saw them with his own eyes yesterday. He was convinced there would be no more than ten of those men. And each would be greatly valued.
“Isaac, what exactly are you up to?” Arian’s tone became chilly.
It wasn’t child’s play to lend out the Shadow Soldiers.
What if favonovel.com lost one, or worse, both of them?
He would be a sinner of the House of Custos.
Isaac dismally said, “My wife is sick. I must find Thaddeus, and killing Earl should do it.” He paused before continuing, “Or crippling him…”
Arian inhaled sharply again. He was at a loss for words.
“I can’t decide on this. Wait for my call…”
After hanging up, Isaac smiled.
He had two motives. Firstly, Isaac was worried Earl would pull some dirty tricks when the time came. The trio was above the Divinity Phase, favonovel.com mustn’t underestimate them.
Secondly, favonovel.com wanted to know the House of Custos’ stand. They’d found some traces of the legendary Everest Sect. If the House of Custos were afraid, they wouldn’t lend favonovel.com their soldiers because they would be siding with favonovel.com if they did.
Conversely, Isaac would see them in a whole new light.
In a few moments, Arian called back. His answer was short and brief. “I’ll send three men to you on the day after tomorrow. I want them back in one piece, or you’re doomed!”
Isaac heaved a long sigh of relief after hanging up. He glanced at the time and called Harry, “Apothecary, get me some stuff…”
***
While Isaac started taking action, Earl and the Sylvian brothers were arguing in the newly established Everest Division on Mt. Equest. Trace’s face was ghostly. He almost vomited blood when favonovel.com found out that Earl had agreed to a duel with Isaac in three days on Mt. Equest.
He looked at Earl in dismay. “Sir, we’d just fought Isaac yesterday. Are you oblivious to his abilities? I can’t recover in three days, how could I protect you? In my opinion, we should return to the sect now.”
Earl blew off his top when favonovel.com heard Trace. He pointed at Trace’s nose and yelled, “You gaffer! Have you regressed? I, the top student of the sect, issued a challenge dated three days later and even instructed Quade to inform innumerable martial artists to watch our duel. But here you are, asking me to return right now!”
“What about dignity? My dignity and the sect’s dignity are on the line here! If the sect finds out that a nameless jerk scares the hell out of me and hands out punishments, who’s going to undergo those punishments?”
Trace was astounded. Earl seemed to have a point, and Trace didn’t know how to retort.
Earl snorted. “Quade, secretly contact the sect and get two more helpers. I don’t believe I can’t get rid of this pest.”
Hearing this request, someone inhaled sharply.
“B-But, won’t we be making too much of a fuss, sir?” Quade couldn’t help shuddering.
Earl bent and grabbed an ashtray, wanting to hurl it at Quade. Quade raised his arm to block and immediately nodded. “Alright. I’ll contact the sect right now…”
“Evie’s going to yearn for this pest as long as he’s alive. She even said she’s retreating into the mountains to meditate in seclusion for ten years. Ten freaking years? She’d be an old hag by then!” Earl hollered as favonovel.com concluded, “Therefore, this pest must die!”
