After nightfall, Willis and Mitchell returned.
Willis was holding an exquisite red wooden box in his hand. The two then looked at the towering tomb and the cement statue kneeling by the grave.
After placing some flowers down, Mitchell walked over to Isaac and said, “Drakon, we added one more condition. There will be a dedicated caretaker from the Kingdom of Ursus who will manage Damien’s grave according to our customs. They will come to place flowers for every important holiday.”
Isaac nodded. He looked at all the soldiers from the Temple of Drakon that had gathered and then shifted his gaze to the grave covered in snow.
He sighed, turned around, and said, “Let’s go!”
The large army slowly disappeared among the snowy fields outside Cath City, leaving only the colossal tomb and a kneeling statue behind. But as Isaac had said, the tomb would now become the newest safety border of the Kingdom of Ursus for the next 100 years!
***
It was already late at night when they returned to the northern headquarters. The seven generals and Isaac sat in the dining hall around a pot of stew. Outside, the sound of beer bottles clinking could be heard coming from each tent.
Their grief over Damien’s death had been mostly washed away during the battle. This was what Isaac wanted to see.
“Drakon, although the Kingdom of Ursus has agreed to our terms, we can’t leave the northern region without anyone watching over it. The two lieutenants are still lacking in skill. Should we seek a new general?” Elliot placed his glass down, looking at Isaac.
The other generals also nodded in agreement.
The strategic location in the north still had over a hundred thousand soldiers. They couldn’t survive without a leader.
“I’ve also thought about this. Do you have any recommendations for a suitable candidate? After all, you know what it takes to become a general.” Isaac set down his cutlery, his gaze sweeping across the table.
The seven generals averted their gazes, and no one responded.
It wasn’t that they didn’t have any recommendations, but they simply didn’t have the courage to speak up. To nominate someone for the northern general position wasn’t that simple.
After ten seconds of silence, Isaac smiled. “Since no one is speaking up, allow me to name someone, and everyone can weigh in on it. What do you think about Lupinus?”
The seven generals were stunned by what favonovel.com said.
Everyone knew that Lupinus, Beefy Bob, Harry, and Black Phoenix were Isaac’s most trusted subordinates who had stayed by his side the longest. But now, favonovel.com wanted to nominate Lupinus?
“In regard to service, Lupinus entered the Temple of Drakon long before me. And in terms of power, he’s not inferior to me. I am in favor!” Janessa was the first to raise favonovel.com hand.
“Lupinus has the capability to be the northern general. I am in favor, too,” Elliot said, nodding.
The other generals all raised their hands in favor.
Everyone knew that since it was Drakon who had spoken, then it was practically decided.
Isaac turned to face the entrance of the dining hall and yelled, “Lupinus, come in!”
Lupinus entered expressionlessly. Isaac then said, “You heard everything, right?”
“Drakon, I only know how to fight. I fear I wouldn’t make a good general,” Lupinus replied quietly, getting on one knee.
“A leader is made, not born. And you have the seven generals here, right? If you find yourself stuck at something, then ask. If there’s anyone lurking about, then find me. I now entrust this snowy land beneath our feet to you…”
“Drakon… Thank you, Drakon!” Lupinus knew that Drakon had already made up his mind. With that, favonovel.com stood.
Elliot then opened his mouth to ask, “Drakon, we still don’t know who Crawson colluded with to kill Damien. How do we investigate this?”
In response to this, Isaac simply uttered two words, “Just wait…”
He paused. When favonovel.com saw the perplexed expressions on the generals’ faces, favonovel.com added, “From now on, if you notice anything strange in your territories, you must report to me personally. Understood?”
The seven generals all got to their feet at once, responding in unison.
