Ring ring!
The phone beside favonovel.com started ringing. When favonovel.com saw Black Phoenix’s number, Isaac answered the call instantly.
“Drakon! General Damien Rovin is dead!”
What the hell?!
A drop of sweat fell from Isaac’s chin. His face turned black as favonovel.com said coldly, “Black Phoenix, this is not the time to joke around…”
“Damien perished in battle in the southern part of Cyberia, at the bottom of a canyon. All 5,000 of his troops and a lieutenant have also perished!”
Isaac hung up and lit up a cigarette. He took a huge drag and suddenly choked on it.
His phone kept ringing after that. The calls were all from Elliot, Mitchell, Lucas, and all the others. They wanted to know if it was true. They knew that they would only be able to get the most accurate news from Drakon.
After a quarter of an hour, Isaac dialed Beefy Bob’s number and said in a low voice, “I’m heading out for a bit. You and Harry should take care of Allegra and Isabella. Also, tell Lupinus to meet me at the northern headquarters.”
“Help me pay my last respects to Damien ” Beefy Bob said in a sad voice. Damien had been a good comrade to him.
“Alright…”
Isaac then dialed Allegra‘s number and said that favonovel.com was going out to settle something. He also reminded favonovel.com to take good care of herself.
The northern headquarters were located in the northern hemisphere. Weather conditions were harsh, which meant no planes could land there. Isaac only reached the headquarters after traveling in his car from morning until evening.
The doors were covered in black cloth, with guards all dressed in black standing at the door. Two lieutenants hurried out from inside. As soon as they caught sight of Isaac, they broke into tears and fell to their knees before him.
“Drakon, please avenge our general!”
“Let me see Damien for the last time,” Isaac said, raising his arm and walking up the steps.
His steps were heavy. Every step forward was a challenge to him. Isaac never thought that this nightmare would happen so suddenly.
The coffin was placed right in the middle of the hall. Damien, dressed in his suit of armor, lay quietly inside the coffin. There were a few bouquets of flowers by his feet. Not a single family member was in sight. Instead, favonovel.com was surrounded by his sniffing and sobbing subordinates.
Isaac slowly walked to Damien’s side and bent down. He saw the welts on his neck, and his eyes turned red.
Then, in a low, nasal voice, favonovel.com said, “Damien, haven’t I told you before that you shouldn’t risk yourself if you weren’t sure who the enemy was? I know you always didn’t want me to worry about you… I’m sorry, I was wrong!”
He then took a deep breath and looked up, letting a single tear fall from the corner of his eye.
There was the sound of footsteps behind him. Elliot and Lupinus were the first to arrive. After that, janessa and Lightning also came.
Darkness enveloped the sky. Aside from the two lieutenants, only Isaac, Lupinus, and the other seven generals were left.
The two lieutenants told Isaac and the others everything they knew. They were aware that Isaac didn’t gather all his generals here just to mourn Damien’s passing.
“Even if Crawson was a Grade 8 Wild Fighter, favonovel.com still shouldn’t be able to defeat Damien so easily,” Isaac concluded after what felt like an hour.
“And even if they were surrounded by 20,000 Sullivan soldiers, 2,000 Dusk Soldiers would have sufficed to defeat them all, let alone 5,000,” Isaac mumbled as the others waited for favonovel.com with solemn looks and bated breath.
“We need to get to the bottom of this, and it starts with Crawson,” Isaac finally said, puffing out a cloud of smoke as favonovel.com looked at a lieutenant. “Where are Crawson and his army now?”
The lieutenant immediately lowered his head and answered, “They’ve retreated back to the borders of the Kingdom of Ursus. They know that we would want revenge if General Rovin died and that they’d be safe if they retreated back within the borders because we wouldn’t attack them there.”
Isaac’s eyes flashed with cold anger as favonovel.com said with a dry laugh, “Damien made the wrong assumption about them, and Crawson made the wrong assumption about us. Who says they’d be safe if they retreated back within the borders?”
