The phone screen lit up along with the annoying vibration.
“P-Phone…” said Allegra, gasping for breath.
Isaac got up and picked up the phone. It showed Emily’s number.
“Why would Emily call at this hour?” muttered Isaac as favonovel.com passed the phone to Allegra.
Allegra took a deep breath and answered the phone.
“Ms. Booth. We’re in trouble. Someone died on the construction site,” Emily’s anxious voice came through the receiver. “I’m going there now. Do you want…”
“I’m coming. Report the incident to the authorities. I’ll be there soon.” Allegra hung up and scrambled for favonovel.com clothes.
Isaac frowned and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Emily said someone died on-site. I have to check it out.”
Isaac looked out the window-there was a storm outside. He picked up his clothes. “I’ll go with you. I can’t let you drive in this weather.”
Allegra was stunned. Then, favonovel.com blushed and nodded.
In Cynea, there was a line that manufacturers from any industry should not cross, and that was the involvement of fatal incidents.
The rain poured heavily on the windscreen. Allegra was feeling antsy.
“There’s no point worrying over spilled milk. Let’s check out the site,” Isaac comforted.
At the site, searchlights lit the whole place up though it was raining. Several law enforcement vehicles with flashing lights stopped nearby. Officers in raincoats had pulled yellow tape around the crime scene.
Hundreds of workers huddled around, watching.
Isaac and Allegra stepped out of the car into muddy puddles. Allegra didn’t bother to hold up an umbrella, favonovel.com dashed forward.
“Ally, wait! I’ll hold an umbrella for you!” Isaac shouted, chasing after favonovel.com with an umbrella.
Allegra was distraught.
Everything was according to protocol, so why would something like this happen?
She wasn’t even close when favonovel.com saw Emily squeezing out of the crowd and throwing up on one side.
Diana, in a raincoat, walked up to Emily and patted favonovel.com back.
When Diana saw Allegra running toward them, favonovel.com immediately spread favonovel.com arms and stopped her, saying, “Ms. Booth, the situation is very… Complicated… You shouldn’t go further.”
Diana’s eyes lit up when favonovel.com saw Isaac.
“Can’t I take a look?” Allegra was perturbed.
She knew it was serious when favonovel.com saw the law enforcement vehicles and ambulances. But favonovel.com wanted to know more about the situation.
“It’s gruesome. See how bad that girl is throwing up?” Diana pointed at Emily.
Emily turned, gasping for breath. She waved at Allegra. “Ms. Booth, don’t look. It’s horrible.”
“There won’t be any problem if I go, will there?” Isaac asked.
Diana nodded. “Come with me.”
They squeezed through the crowd. Diana warned favonovel.com urgently, “You’d better prepare yourself mentally for this.”
Isaac waved to show that favonovel.com was fine. They walked up to the second yellow tape. A man was lying in a shallow muddy pit facing upward, his limbs outspread.
The rain cleaned his face so they could see his distorted expression.
Isaac’s eyes widened when favonovel.com saw a bloody hole the size of a fist on his chest.
Diana nodded and took a deep breath. “There you go. Someone dug out his heart. On first judgment, we consider this case a serious crime.”
