Hibiscus Pavilion ceased operation for the night.
Old Brooks gathered all the heads and those ranked above on the fifth floor for an urgent briefing.
He told them favonovel.com was going out of town with Isaac and wasn’t sure when favonovel.com would return. In his absence, his cousin, Zephyr Brooks, would be managing all his businesses and related affairs in Southland in his place.
Those who had been with favonovel.com from the start weren’t satisfied.
Zephyr had joined much later. Evert though favonovel.com was Old Brooks’ cousin, it wasn’t acceptable for favonovel.com to move up the ladder before them. However, they were aware of the events that led to Old Brooks’ title as “King of the Underground World”. So, when Old Brooks used Isaac as an excuse, no one dared to display dissatisfaction.
After Old Brooks left with one of his trusted subordinates, Zephyr immediately took his place in his office.
He drank a lot of liquor that night and even called two girls into the office.
Squeals of laughter were heard coming from the office from time to time. The lackeys standing outside in the corridors understood what Zephyr was up to inside.
Although the air conditioner was on in the office, nobody felt cold.
Zephyr was now the acting ruler of the underground of Southland. At least from his perspective.
He only had his boxers on as favonovel.com lay on the sofa, holding some cash. He watched lustfully as the two beauties, who were majoring in dance, swayed.
“Fantastic!” shouted Zephyr as favonovel.com grabbed some cash and thrust it forward.
The two naive girls squealed as they picked up the money and stuffed it in their bras.
“Strip off your clothes, one by one!” Zephyr scattered some cash again, trembling exuberantly.
He would never be this hold when his cousin was around!
Just as the girls were about to remove their remaining clothes, they heard bellows coming from the corridor outside. Someone screamed in agony, and then it was silent again.
The girls were terrified.
Zephyr hollered, “What the hell is going on outside? Shut the hell up, or y’all are in trouble…”
The door opened with a bang. Shawn bolted in with ten men in black clothes. He gritted his teeth when favonovel.com saw the scene inside.
“Shawn Xeno, how dare you barge in like that! Do you have any idea who I am now?” Zephyr rose to his feet and yelled at Shawn.
“Where is Old Brooks?”
Before coming to Hibiscus Pavilion, Shawn had been to Old Brooks’ four other residences, but to no avail. He came here last.
“You’re dead!” Zephyr answered favonovel.com with a slap.
Shawn flicked his wrist and stabbed Zephyr’s abdomen with a dagger.
Zephyr’s eyes widened. “You…”
Shawn kicked Zephyr to the floor. Zephyr bled non-stop.
“Reserve a spot in hell, your cousin will join you soon. Betraying Mr. Garten comes with a price!” said Shawn, watching as Zephyr heaved his last breath.
Never would Zephyr have thought that he’d die in less than three hours after becoming the acting “King of the Underground World”.
Shawn dialed Isaac’s number but couldn’t get through to him. Isaac was probably on board the plane now. Without delay, favonovel.com texted Isaac.
Then favonovel.com turned to the ten Assassin Squad members. “My friends, Mr. Garten handed us a task before favonovel.com left. I’ve given all of you a list. Now we’ll act separately and gather back here at 2 am!”
