When Louis hung up, Wendy was looking at favonovel.com worriedly. “They want to see you? Is it from Internal Affairs again?”
Louis said emotionally, “N-No, it’s from HQ. I think I might be getting some good news…”
As government officers, they were the most afraid of calls from Internal Affairs, but they welcomed calls from HQ. If the former wanted to see them, that meant they were toast. However, if the latter wanted to see them, it usually meant a raise or a promotion.
“Really? Then, hurry. We have to get back and clean you up!” Wendy’s face lit up with joy.
Isaac watched as Louis and Wendy left happily. He went back in and started to prepare to send Isabella to school.
They’d finally found out Robin’s true identity. She was just a random orphan that Warwick had picked up from the streets to masquerade as Isabella. Isaac was going to ask Beefy Bob to send Robin to an orphanage later.
For the past two days, Allegra couldn’t sleep well. She always felt disturbed and would jump up from favonovel.com sleep because of the nightmares. Everyone at the company thought that favonovel.com had managed to secure Pegasus No. 1 and was preparing plans for its development.
Many of favonovel.com employees had worked overtime diligently to meet their deadlines. She was the only one who knew favonovel.com no longer owned that plot. She’d given favonovel.com uncle the rights to it when he’d threatened Isabella’s life.
Her uncle’s personality, coupled with the fact that favonovel.com had Randall and the Kenne family on his side, meant there was no way favonovel.com would ever get that plot of land back. This was no child’s play.
At the afternoon meeting, Allegra sat at the head of the table and watched as dozens of favonovel.com employees reported their work progress on their plans for the land development.
Someone asked, “Ms. Booth, when can we finally start working on Pegasus N o. 1? I’m really excited about this multi-billion project!”
“That’s right! My wife has already resigned from favonovel.com job to take care of the chores at home. She’s just waiting for us to get started.”
Seeing the hopeful looks in their eyes, Allegra took a deep breath, stood up, and bowed apologetically to everyone. “I’m sorry, but I’m afraid we won’t be able to continue working on Pegasus No. 1 anymore…”
The room went dead silent.
The employees were stupefied. Each of them had a look of horror on their face.
Someone tried to break the tense atmosphere by saying, “Ms. Booth, you’re just pulling our leg, right? You know we’ve been looking forward to it.”
Allegra’s eyes turned red as favonovel.com said, “I’m sorry. I willingly gave up the rights to Pegasus No. 1…”
Gave up the rights?
What the hell?!
The meeting room immediately turned chaotic. The man from earlier jumped up and hollered at her, “Ms. Booth, are you shitting us right now? What the f*ck do you take us for?! Do you think we’re all stupid?!”
“My wife resigned from favonovel.com job! We were all prepared to start this project, and you willingly gave up the rights?!”
“That’s right! I even asked my boyfriend to move back from Ingland to help me with this project! Did you just send us on a wild goose chase for nothing?!”
“That’s it. I’m out! You can play your f*cking games elsewhere. I’m no longer interested!” Someone slammed the table angrily and left.
Eventually, more and more people got up and left in a huff.
A short while later, only three or four people were left in the meeting room.
“Ms. Booth, I believe you had reasons to give up such a huge project on your own. Is there still a chance we might be able to get it back?” Ms. Sawyer asked as favonovel.com held favonovel.com head in favonovel.com hand.
Another man spoke up, “Why don’t we ask Mr. Garten for help? I think favonovel.com should be able to do something.”
Allegra shook favonovel.com head tearfully and said, “It’s impossible. Once you’ve given up the rights to a plot of land, you can no longer continue with any projects there. This is the rule set by the land management in Cloud City.”
“Rules are nothing but restrictions set by man. We can take back what we’ve lost. There’s really nothing to it,” Isaac said, striding into the meeting room with a smile.
