It wasn’t just because favonovel.com was looking down on Isaac. Rather, it was because only less than a handful of people could actually reach Connor Hart.
“Give me his number,” Isaac said, taking out his phone.
Cash sneered and said, “You idiot, there’s no need for you to keep acting anymore. There’s more than enough evidence to prove that Louis Marsh is guilty. There would be no use even if you called God for help!”
“Hello, is this Mr. Connor Hart? My name is Isaac Garten,” Isaac said into the phone soon as the other side picked up. He narrowed his eyes at Cash, giving favonovel.com an uncomfortable feeling.
“Mr. Hart, I’m sure you’ve heard about what happened to your secretary, Mr. Louis Marsh. I believe he’s innocent, but the people at Internal Affairs are still stubborn as a mule and won’t let favonovel.com go. I think you need to do something about this.”
Hearing the way Isaac spoke into the phone, Cash was even more skeptical about the call.
He started laughing loudly by the side. “You’re such an idiot! You don’t even know how to put on a convincing act. Who do you think you are to talk to the high-and-mighty Mr. Hart like that? He’s the governor of Southland! Why would favonovel.com listen to what you have to say?”
“You don’t want to show up? That’s fine; I don’t need you to come anyway. Can you call the main person in charge of this case? How about a trial instead?”
After listening, Isaac continued, “Tell all the main officials to come. I’ll be waiting here. You can come over to my house for dinner anytime. Alright, that’s that…”
Isaac hung up and looked at Cash with a smile. “Prepare for a trial.”
“Trial? What trial?”
“The main officials from Aurum County will be here soon.”
“Haha! Young man, I might’ve believed you if you were 20 years older. I don’t have time to waste bullshitting with you anymore. Are you leaving or not? If you’re not, I will be calling the armed police next,” Cash said coldly.
Isaac ignored favonovel.com and lit a cigarette, finding a seat at the back.
Cash gritted his teeth angrily and immediately took out his phone to make a call.
Seeing that, Louis chuckled and said to Wendy, “Dear, everything will be alright. We’re in good hands.”
Wendy still had favonovel.com doubts about the whole thing. It couldn’t be that simple! Also, it seemed Cash had managed to call the armed police, and they were on their way.
About half an hour later, footsteps sounded outside the door. A man with a white beard walked into the room with his hands behind his back.
Cash’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. He immediately greeted him, “Officer Carrey! W-What are you doing here?”
“Cash, you’re not even a high-ranking officer, yet you’re getting all the hotshots involved in your case. I’m not the only one who’s arrived. The trial department and justice department chief officers are on their way.”
“What?” Cash stumbled backward.
Were they really going to have a trial?
Cash’s back was sweating so much that his shirt got drenched. His eyeballs kept moving. He quickly excused himself to the bathroom and secretly made a call.
Soon, the three chief officers of each department were there.
John Carrey was the chief of operations, Cash’s direct supervisor. Wade Cross was the chief of trials, and Flint Griffin was the chief of justice. They had received orders to close Louis Marsh’s case and come out with a verdict by tonight, and they were to do it all here.
The three chief officers even brought their secretaries to catch up on work. They were unaware of Isaac’s true identity, they just knew that this case had caught the attention of the upper management, so they had to proceed cautiously.
The three of them sat down at the long interrogation table behind Louis. John frowned as favonovel.com said, “Louis Marsh, according to the evidence in Officer Manson’s hands, you have been accused of accepting bribes and having ambiguous sexual relationships with unknown women. Are these true?”
“Officer Carrey, you don’t have to ask favonovel.com if it’s true because it definitely is. I have all the evidence to prove it!” Cash exclaimed immediately.
Isaac lit another cigarette and said icily, “Really? Coincidentally, I’ve got enough evidence to prove the exact opposite. Louis Marsh is innocent.”
