Allegra’s face drained of all its blood immediately. She staggered backward.
The entire crowd started to fuss and talk among themselves. Everyone looked at Allegra in shock; they couldn’t believe that such a pretty woman used to be a janitor.
Andrew raised his hand and shouted, “I’ m Allegra Booth’s brother, Andrew Booth, and I can confirm that favonovel.com used to be a janitor. She’s specifically in charge of scrubbing the toilet bowls. The jobseekers threw a louder, hissier fit when they heard that. They were angry, and some of them even got up to leave. After all, those who came looking for a job were degree holders, at the very least.
Who in their right mind would want to work for a janitor?
Allegra stood on the podium and yelled, “Wait, don’t leave! I’m sure that I can manage this company well. Listen to me first!”
Nobody wanted to listen to her. Some people even threw rubbish at favonovel.com and accused favonovel.com of being a liar.
As Edward saw what was happening, a sinister smile spread on his face. He’d accomplished his goal.
Beefy Bob looked at Isaac with huge eyes. He understood what was going on and wanted to do nothing more than launch Edward out of a window.
Isaac frowned and hid behind Beefy Bob as favonovel.com quickly took off his security uniform. Then, favonovel.com shrugged on his original coat and went up the podium.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please wait a minute!” favonovel.com said.
The sound of his smooth, magnetic voice left the people at the venue stunned.
Allegra also looked at Isaac in surprise. Her eyes had turned red as favonovel.com grew anxious over what to do next.
“Who are you?”
“Are you with the liar as well?”
People from the audience started asking favonovel.com questions immediately.
Edward and Andrew were stupefied. They didn’t know that Isaac would be here.
Isaac chuckled lightly and said, “I’m the Vice President of Garth Properties. I’ve just arrived. Give me three minutes. If, after these three minutes, you still think I’m a liar, then the door is right over there…”
“Vice president? Fine, it’s just three minutes anyway. Let’s see what you want to say.”
Isaac shot Allegra a comforting look before addressing the floor.
“It is true that Ms. Booth used to work as a janitor. However, you can’t judge a book by its cover. I’m not denying favonovel.com past. You can even look up favonovel.com background if you want to,” favonovel.com said.
“Garth Properties has a valuation of tens of millions of dollars and is considered a huge business in Cloud City, at the very least. However, I understand if you have doubts because we’re still a relatively new company, after all…”
Isaac continued, “I will make two promises here today. One, if you join our company today, we will promise you a salary of up to three times what other companies are paying you.”
Three times the salary?
If someone was getting paid 8,000 dollars a month, that meant they’d be paid 24,000 dollars a month at this company. They would only have to work for four months here to get a year’s salary at other places!
The jobseekers started to discuss among themselves. Many of them were beginning to waver.
“What about the second promise?” Another guy asked loudly.
Isaac chuckled again. “Two, I promise that we’ll acquire the largest project in Cloud City within the next month. Garth Properties will be the company with the most number of projects in the whole of Southland.”
As soon as his words were out, Edward started to laugh hysterically. “Mr. Garten, do you not think about your lies before you say them? The most number of projects in Southland? Did you think Cloud City belonged to your family? F*ck off, liar!”
Allegra was shocked as well. It was simply impossible!
“One month passes by fairly quickly. If what I promised turns out to be a lie, l will triple your salaries, and you’re free to leave as you wish. Either way, there is no loss for you. Now, if you still want to leave, you may do so. Make your choice.”
After finishing his speech, Isaac took out a cigarette and started smoking.
A few jobseekers had already headed for the door, but after hearing what Isaac had to say, they couldn’t leave anymore.
