The goose farm?
Would the twelve girls be held captive in such a place?
The holy woman frowned and said, “The goose farm is actually nearby. It’s not far away at all. If the girls are locked up there, won’t it be easy for them to be discovered?”
Thomas explained, “We don’t know about that. We’re usually less alert when things are right in front of us. The more dangerous the place is, the safer it is. Who would have thought of locking the girls up on the goose farm?”
“Mr. Mayo, can you please explain how you came up with this guess?” the holy woman asked again.
Thomas showed three fingers. “Do you still remember the three conditions that I mentioned before?”
Firstly, the place had to be big enough to lock up all the girls. Secondly, the place had to be remote so that the girls’ screams would not be heard. Thirdly, there had to be a lot of food since so many girls needed to be fed.
The holy woman said, “But the goose farm only satisfies the first condition, right? It doesn’t seem to match the last two conditions.”
Thomas shook his head and slowly explained.
In truth, there was another way to avoid the girls’ screams from being heard besides finding a place in a remote area, and that was to use noise!
Thomas and the group had visited the goose farm earlier, and their heads had almost exploded because the place was extremely noisy. Even when they stood face to face and spoke, they still needed to raise their voices and shout.
If the twelve girls were locked up in that place, no one would be able to hear them even if they screamed with all their might. Their voices would be completely covered by the honks of the several thousand geese.

The holy woman said, “My subordinates asked around, and the food consumption on the goose farm has not increased. Everyone still consumes the same amount of food. There’s nothing odd going on.”
