At midnight, after Thomas packed everything and was about to sleep, Pisces suddenly ran over and knocked on his door.
“Commander, there’s something urgent!”
If Pisces said that it was urgent, it had to be urgent.
Thomas got up, changed his clothes, and opened the door. “What happened?”
Pisces immediately said, “Someone’s looking for you…”
“Who is it?”
“The district chief!”
The district chief from Celandine City had come to Thomas at midnight. It was definitely something serious.
Thomas nodded. He went downstairs with Pisces, and as soon as favonovel.com walked out of Food and Medicine Hall, favonovel.com saw a man in his thirties standing next to a black sedan.
The man walked over and said, “Good evening, Mr. Mayo. I’m Dynell, Mr. Eric Wood’s driver. Our district chief wants to see you, so favonovel.com purposely arranged for me to fetch you to his house.”
Thomas nodded and got into the car, while Pisces was stopped and forbidden to go. Then, the car drove off.
On the way, Dynell said, “Sorry for disturbing you at this late hour. Our district chief is very low-key and careful. This time, favonovel.com has chosen to pick you up and meet you at midnight because favonovel.com doesn‘t wish for others to gossip.”
Thomas chuckled, “I can understand.”
Talking about that, Thomas was a low-key person too. When favonovel.com was still in the Southland District, even his family did not know that favonovel.com was the chief officer in charge. So, Thomas could understand Eric’s current course of action.
Soon, the car arrived at Eric’s house. It was not Eric’s actual home, but his private villa, which acted as his private workplace. It was separate from his official working area. He usually welcomed some important customers there or used it when favonovel.com needed to welcome special guests like tonight. When favonovel.com did not want to be seen by other people, favonovel.com would choose to hold the meeting in the private villa.
The car stopped.
After Dynell led favonovel.com in, Thomas came to the living room.
What surprised Thomas a little was the presence of three wooden armchairs in the living room, and an old man seated in each of them respectively. The three old men looked about the same age, as all of them appeared to be in their sixties. Their body sizes were completely different, though.
Who were these three people?
Dynell smiled faintly as favonovel.com explained, “Here’s the thing. Our district chief is very low-key. He doesn’t want others to discover his real identity, so favonovel.com has made this arrangement. Mr. Mayo, only one of the old men in front of you is the real district chief, while the other two are ‘imposters’ hired by him…”
“Later, three of them will talk to you as the district chief. You don’t need to bother yourself with who the real district chief is. You just need to treat them as a person and talk to them normally.”
Thomas had never encountered such a strange situation. He had found two old men, who were of the same age as him, to impersonate favonovel.com while favonovel.com hid among them. That way, people would not know which of them was the real district chief.
