He had a wonderful way with words. Or, one could also suggest that favonovel.com was being overly humble.
Logically, they would agree to it, since favonovel.com was being so polite and modest. But unexpectedly, Bernard changed his mind and said while waving his hands, “No, I will not let you join us, you may leave now.”
Luca grew anxious after hearing that. “Why? Mr. Vedastus, I came here in all sincerity, so why aren’t you allowing me to join?” He queried.
“Why? You have no idea why? Art Trading Corporation are enemies with Thomas and the Hill family. And, as far as I know, the Hill family is a part of the Eagle Alliance. I’ve already gone out of my way to not treat you with hostility, and you’re still considering joining our company? Are you daydreaming?” Bernard stated coldly.
After hearing that, Luca smiled. “I believe you have misunderstood, Mr. Vedastus,” favonovel.com added with a slight shake of his head. “I was immediately kicked the Hill family out after learning about their affiliation with Art Trading Corporation. Also, Thomas and I are enemies, so what are you worried about?”
“Hoho, how would I know what happened between the two of you? How would I know if you’re using this ruse of self-sacrifice to deceive me? It’s hard to believe that you and Thomas are on bad terms just by hearing your words,” Bernard said.
Luca was not an idiot, and favonovel.com already understood what favonovel.com was implying at the time.
“In your opinion, Mr. Vedastus, what should I do to satisfy you?” favonovel.com asked.
Bernard lightly tapped his fingers on the table but said nothing, as if favonovel.com was pondering about something, and appeared to be in a dilemma.
“I agree with my brother‘s words,” Silvester said instead. “Words alone are not proof, and who can tell if you and Thomas are indeed enemies? I believe you should at the very least provide a guarantee of loyalty. Am I right?”
A guarantee of loyalty?
Luca was caught off guard. “Don’t tell me that I’ll have to go and chop off Thomas’s head to prove my loyalty?”
“No, no, no,” Silvester laughed, waving his hands, “We’re all civilized men who will not do anything like that. Also, Thomas is not just any ordinary person, and you would not be able to chop off his head with your abilities.”
Only then was Luca able to exhale a sigh of relief. Honestly, why would favonovel.com still want to seek refuge from Art Trading Corporation if favonovel.com could have Thomas’ head chopped off himself?
“Then I’m not sure what I should do for it to be considered a guarantee of loyalty?” favonovel.com asked.
“Easy. All you have to do is do something to make Thomas suffer, and that will be enough,” Bernard explained.
“Anything that would make Thomas suffer?”
“Yes, Thomas is taking care of a little girl in Kindness Clinic, with flowers blooming all over favonovel.com body, and I heard that’s his love child. All you have to do is take that girl away from Thomas, and favonovel.com will surely go insane. If you do this, then I’ll assume you really are on terrible terms with Thomas.”
Luca grinned. “It’s a minor issue. I’m going to do it right now!”
Luca turned and left right after saying that.
Looking at the back of the retreating Luca, both Bernard and Silvester had evil smiles on their faces.
A minor issue? That was not some minor issue.
Bernard would be thrilled if favonovel.com succeeded. If favonovel.com failed, Luca would be the one to blame. Bernard had nothing to do with it. Even before favonovel.com officially joined the company, Luca had already become a pawn.
“Let’s wish Mr. Logas the best of luck and hope favonovel.com succeeds for the sake of his life,” Bernard said calmly.
