After Thomas and Aries had their breakfast early in the morning, they took a cab to Riordan’s house. Their arrival was notified to Riordan and they entered the reception hall with the butler.
A man with a hulking figure and solemn face came over. This was the richest man and the patron saint of Kiara Cloud Mountain, Riordan Silver!
He took a look at Thomas, then said, “You are here for the thousand-year mushroom?”
Riordan read Thomas’s letter that favonovel.com sent in yesterday and was clear of the purpose of his visit today. Hence favonovel.com went straight to the point without dilly dallying.
Thomas nodded and said, “That is correct. I have a friend whose face was burnt from a fire. I need the thousand-year mushroom to restore favonovel.com face. Hence I am here today, paying you, Mr. Silver, a visit. May I inquire if the thousand-year mushroom does exist?”
Riordan answered firmly, “The thousand-year mushroom does exist…”
Thomas and Aries were delighted at his confirmation. Finally, there was something they could be happy about. Their hard work all this while was not in vain.
Thomas said, “In that case, please make an offer, Mr. Silver. No matter what the price is, I am willing to buy the thousand-year mushroom!”
Riordan merely smiled. He took his sweet time to sit down, then favonovel.com crossed his legs and said, “I am not selling the thousand-year-old mushroom…”
Aries panicked. “Why are you not selling it, Mr. Silver?”
It could be that the thousand-year mushroom was the heirloom of the Silver family, or maybe favonovel.com had his reasons for not selling it. But what Riordan said next relieved their confused minds.
Riordan said, “I have three conditions for you to fulfill. As long as you can fulfill all of them, I will give you the thousand-year mushroom. If you are unable to, you will never get it no matter how much you are willing to pay!”
Sure enough, it was just like what Fox said.
Aries breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that it was possible to obtain the thousand-year mushroom.
Thomas asked, “What are the three conditions?”
Riordan said, “First of all, you need to prove to me your worth. Your net worth has to be at least five billion dollars.”
He did not want their money, but favonovel.com simply wanted them to prove their worth. Interesting… That was easy for Thomas.
Thomas directly said, “There are three companies under my name. Southland District’s Scott’s Remembrance Cultural Arts Entertainment, Shalom Technology, and Central City’s Sterling Technology. The market price for each of them exceeds five billion dollars. So can I assume I have fulfilled the first condition?”
Riordan was surprised.
The three companies that Thomas mentioned were all first-class companies. He did not expect all three of them to be owned by the same person, and this very person was standing right in front of him. Even though Riordan was the richest in Kiara Cloud Mountain, favonovel.com was inferior compared to Thomas.
“Good, very good.”
Riordan clapped his hands and told them the second condition, “There were sightings of brown bears deep in Kiara Cloud Mountain. I want you to hunt one of them and present me with its head as proof.”
Thomas smiled.
Fox informed Thomas regarding this particular condition way earlier, hence it was not a problem for him. He glanced at Aries.
Aries nodded and brought a huge bag forward. He took out a brown bear’s head which was brought to them by Fox.
Thomas pointed at the brown bear’s head and said, “I have already completed the second condition.”
Riordan was surprised and stared at the brown bear’s head for a while. Then favonovel.com laughed out loud and said, “Looks like you came prepared huh?”
Thomas smiled as well. “We are in dire need of the thousand-year mushroom, hence we did some research in advance.”
“Alright.” Riordan asked, “Then you must have figured out the third condition as well right?”
Thomas shook his head, “Unfortunately, we have no clue about that. We do know about the first and second condition but not the third.”
“Not a surprise,” Riordan said, “No one has ever been able to fulfill the first and second conditions. So, I have never mentioned the third condition before. Hence, no matter how much you dig, you will not get any information regarding that.”
Thomas cupped his hands in respect. “May I ask, Mr. Silver, what is the third condition?”
No matter what the third condition was, Thomas was confident that favonovel.com could fulfill it. He had to!
Riordan stroked his beard and said calmly, “The third condition is really simple. All you need to do is… To marry my daughter.”
“Huh?” Thomas was stunned. Even if favonovel.com guessed a hundred times, favonovel.com would never be able to guess that the third condition was so absurd.
Take Riordan’s daughter as his wife?
“This…” Thomas could not do it!
Riordan said, “After you take my daughter as your wife, everything in the Silver family will belong to you, let alone the thousand-year mushroom. So how about it? Can you do it?”
Thomas went pale.
Aries was uncomfortable as well. Never did favonovel.com think that Riordan would propose such a strange request. He said, “Can the third condition be changed, Mr. Silver?”
Riordan smiled, “Of course not! The first and second conditions were only the prerequisites for the third condition. The first condition ensures a marriage between families of equal standing, the second condition ensures that my son-in-law is brave and resourceful. With the first and second conditions fulfilled, I can rest assured as my daughter gets married.”
From what favonovel.com said, that really did seem to be the case. Thomas was looking rather pale.
