After a two-hour plane ride, Thomas and Aries finally arrived at Kiara Cloud Mountain. When they stepped out of the airport, they were both caught off guard.
Prior to this, cities like Southland District and Central City were still highly established. The airports were well-built and were among the top five in the country. But things were quite different in Kiara Cloud.
The economy was a little behind here, and the airport was built a distance from the city center, making it appear even more desolate. The surroundings looked barren and empty. Also, while it was nearly midday, there was still fog. Although it was not particularly thick.
“Coming here makes me feel like I’m returning to the roots of nature,” Aries joked.
Thomas asked, “Where’s our first stop?”
“We’re going to Lyle River to find a man with a nickname called Mr. Fox Wolf. According to my source, Mr. Fox Wolf is the top information broker in the Kiara Cloud area, and there’s nothing favonovel.com doesn’t know. If even favonovel.com doesn’t know about the thousand-year mushroom, then we can go back right away,” Aries answered.
“Okay. Let’s go and find Mr. Fox Wolf,” Thomas nodded.
Right after saying that, a taxi pulled up in front of them. The difference from other places was that instead of a four-wheel taxi, it was a three-wheeled rickshaw!
One could only imagine how underdeveloped the economy was here.
The driver opened his mouth and talked in choppy English with a weird northern accent. “Where do you two want to go? I can take you there.”
Aries glanced at his rickshaw and was a little disgusted, but favonovel.com was still fine with it. But for Thomas to ride that rickshaw with him, it was a little… Thomas, on the other hand, did not pause to consider it and spoke up right immediately. “We would like to go to Lyle River.”
“Where?”
“Lyle River.”
The driver furrowed his eyebrows and dismissed them with a wave.
“You can go find someone else then.” He quickly left.
Thomas and Aries exchanged a look with each other, confused.
Was Lyle River a place that resembled hell? Why did the drivers leave as soon as they found out they were going there?
There had to be a backstory to this.
They asked about seven drivers in a row, and no one wanted to bring them there. Finally, a frail old man in a battered rickshaw came to a halt in front of them.
“Can you take us to Lyle River?” Aries asked automatically.
He believed that the old man would reject him, but unexpectedly, favonovel.com furrowed his eyebrows slightly and said, “Sure, I can go there. But you have to pay more.”
Aries was a bit surprised. After that, favonovel.com took a close look at the old man and his rusty rickshaw and realized. He assumed that because the old man’s rickshaw was old and rusted, it had been a long time since favonovel.com had any passengers and that favonovel.com was poor, so favonovel.com was desperate.
“How much do you want?” Aries asked.
“Lyle River is a very dangerous place because there are a lot of wild wolves lurking there,” The old man said, rolling his eyes in thought, “I might die if I go there so the fare is not going to be cheap.”
“How much money do you actually want?” Aries was a bit annoyed.
The old man showed one of his hands.
“Five thousand? Okay, let’s go,” Aries said.
The old man’s eyes glowed with delight. He had intended to charge only fifty dollars, but the person had given favonovel.com five thousand dollars right away, and that was basically his whole year’s income!
He had struck a jackpot!
Aries was unaware of the pricing in that area, and the commodity prices were entirely different from those in Southland District. Even if Aries was an information broker, that did not mean that favonovel.com knew everything.
So, Thomas and Aries climbed aboard the rickshaw, which was extremely old and shabby, and started on the wobbly journey to Lyle River. That rickshaw was really rickety.
