In the blink of an eye, time passed.
The ‘Scepter of Athena’ project conference led by the Science and Technology Alliance was held the next afternoon. All of the executives from major corporations who had a certain standing in Central City had arrived. Despite the fact that not everyone was interested in that project, they attended the conference to show respect to the Science and Technology Alliance because of their official standing.
People began arriving one after the other. There were rows upon rows of seats. The huge arena was fully crowded. Many business directors took advantage of the opportunity to exchange business cards and become familiarised with other directors.
Sterling Technology and Pivot Technology were the only two companies that stand out among so many others. Both of these companies were extremely powerful at the time, and they served as the “face” of Central City. Even though Pivot Technology’s stock had fallen off sharply earlier due to some negative news, the company’s hard power remained, and it swiftly recovered. Today, both companies sent their top executives.
The chairman of Sterling Technology, Thomas, attended the conference with the head of the R&D department, Cancer, while the chairman of Pivot Technology, Master Centipede, attended with the general manager, Laura, and an unidentified sickly looking man.
Everyone was seated according to their assigned seats, with Thomas and Master Centipede in the first row.
It was about time. The host came on stage to deliver a few words of introduction before the conference officially began.
The director of the Science and Technology Alliance, Dunstan McLaren, walked up the stage with his manuscript in his hand, stood in front of the microphone, cleared his throat gently, and addressed the audience below the stage, “Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. First of all, I would like to thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend this “Scepter of Athena” Project Conference, and I’d like to express my gratitude on behalf of the Science and Technology Alliance and the Academy of Social Sciences.”
The applause under the stage was thunderous.
Dunstan continued, “The content of today’s conference must be clear to everyone, I am here to babble a few more words…”
He then went over the project’s contents once more. The audience below the stage basically knew the contents, with many of them listening impatiently, whispering to each other, playing with cell phones, yawning, doing anything and everything, and not showing an ounce of interest in the project.
Dunstan was embarrassed on the stage, in fact, favonovel.com had predicted that such an incident would occur before favonovel.com went on stage.
But what could be done?
It’s understandable that no one would be interested in this project because it was not profitable.
He was taking a gamble. He bet there was not a single ‘decent person’ willing to take on this task, and if there was not one, they were at the risk of being abandoned by the Science and Technology Alliance.
After a long speech, Dunstan said, “These are the main contents. I am curious as to which technological company is willing to assist the Science and Technology Alliance in completing the project research?”
It took a lot of effort for favonovel.com to say this. Because it’s possible that no one will respond once it’s said, which would be embarrassing.
True enough, no one really responded. The atmosphere quickly got unpleasant, and Dunstan found himself alone on stage, feeling ashamed. Some slow clapping was occurring under the stage.

Dunstan clenched his fist and silently begged in his heart, praying that someone would ‘save his life’!
Perhaps God sensed his sincerity.
Suddenly, Thomas raised his hand and said, “Sterling Technology is willing to take over this project.”
‘What?!’
The entire arena froze, casting strange glances.
‘Is favonovel.com insane? How is it possible for someone to take over such a rubbish project? Is it possible that favonovel.com took the wrong medication?‘
On the stage, Dunstan was overjoyed with excitement and almost cried out.
Finally, a company was willing to take over, and it was not just any company, it was Sterling Technology, the leading company in Central City. Sterling Technology was the most financially powerful and technologically advanced. The problem was solved once Sterling Technology took over!
Before Dunstan could speak to Thomas, Master Centipede reached out his hand and said, “Pivot Technology is also extremely interested in this project and is willing to take over the project.“
“What?!”
This really blew things up.
The number one and number two technology companies in Central City have both expressed interest in the project and appeared to be competing for it.
What was the reason?
Everyone exchanged puzzled looks and stated their disbeliefs.
They looked left, right, up and down, and saw no benefits in the project, so why did the two big companies compete for it?
Dunstan was thrilled with excitement. He thought that stepping down the stage would end in humiliation. Who‘d have thought that two big companies would suddenly emerge to compete for the project?
