‘The store is about to be sold?’
Jacob Nolan’s went red with anger as soon as that sentence registered.
“Who has the guts to lay their hands on our Nolan family’s long-time brand?”
The man with the red hair tie laughed. “I have the guts to do so! Mighty Dragon Properties is willing to offer you thirty million dollars for all of Red Society Pharmacy’s shops. With this money, you can simply find another place and reopen the shop, right?”
Nolan was enraged. “What are you talking about? Can a long-time brand be opened at will? We, the Nolan family, have been operating for over a hundred years, and we are considered a long-time, honorable brand. There is only one of us in all of Central City, and we have no other branches. Such is the devotion we have, the essence of our culture, and the inheritance from our ancestors!”
The man with the red hair tie sneered. “What you are saying has nothing to do with me. I only know that Mighty Dragon Properties wants this land.”
Jacob stared at favonovel.com coldly. “If you say you want it, then we will have to hand it over to you? Do you think this piece of land belongs to you?”
The man with the red hair tie smiled. “This piece of land does not belong to me, but it does not belong to the Nolan family as well right?”
This piece of land indeed did not belong to anyone but the government.
It was only because the long-time brand of the Nolan family was a symbol in the Central City that even the government did not fiddle with this piece of land in order to preserve the cultural inheritance. They just rented the land to the Nolan family every year at a fixed price.
Jacob said, “This piece of land belongs to the government. We pay our rent on an annual basis without breaking the laws and regulations. On what basis are you messing with our place?”
The man with the red hair tie shrugged. “I am sorry. From today onwards, the land will not be rented to you anymore. The government wants to rent it to Mighty Dragon Properties.”
“That’s a lie!”
“You do not believe it, huh?” The man with the red hair tie lifted his head up and said proudly, “Let me introduce myself. My name is Maxima Romuald, general manager of Mighty Dragon Properties. Not only is Red Society Pharmacy leased to us, but the whole street is now officially leased to us, Mighty Dragon Properties.”
“All procedures have been completed and verified by the government as well. Mighty Dragon Properties does things completely legally, and we are reasonable too. If you do not believe so, you can ask around, we too can provide you with the documents needed. So, do you still want to make a fuss about it?”
Jacob was rendered completely speechless by what Maxima said.
If the government really decided to lease the whole street to Mighty Dragon Properties, then the weak could not win, and they could do nothing about it.
Maxima continued, “Actually, old pharmacies like yours don’t earn money at all. Having your business in such a prosperous location is basically wasting resources. When Mighty Dragon Properties takes over, we will demolish the pharmacy and build a huge hotel, attracting tourists to dine here. We will decide on a later date as to whether it will serve Italian or Mexican cuisine. But anyway, no matter what cuisine we are going for, I will make sure that the hotel is prosperous and earn a lot of money, unlike this dull and old pharmacy that does not even earn much annually.”
Demolishing a long-time pharmacy only to have it rebuilt into a hotel?
Just for the sake of money?
Jacob was far more furious compared to earlier. “Money! That’s all you talk about! Besides money, what else do you know? Do we have to abandon cultural inheritance and craftsmanship just for the sake of money?”
Maxima shrugged. “Sorry about that. I am but a businessman who talks only business. Alright now, you guys should not be stubborn anymore. I am not treating you guys badly anyway. You can hardly find any other person who offers you thirty million dollars. Let’s quickly sign the contract so you can reopen your pharmacy at another place with the money in hand. Please do not stop Mighty Dragon Properties in its path to wealth.”
In the face of absolute wealth, the so-called essence, inheritance, and craftsmanship all seemed so fragile.
Jacob was speechless. Finally, favonovel.com looked at Birch Nolan and asked, “Father, is favonovel.com telling the truth?
Birch’s face was all pale. “Half of it is true, half of it is not.”
“What does that mean?”
“As a matter of fact, since the Nolan family is a long-time brand, the government has decided to allow Red Society Pharmacy to be established at this place in order to preserve cultural inheritance. No forces are allowed to fiddle with this place. However, there is one condition.”
“A condition?”
“Yes. If the Nolan family is no longer able to operate or chooses to give up on its brand, the government will reclaim this piece of land.”
In other words, the government recognized the Nolan family’s brand as a long-time brand. As long the brand was still around, it shall not be moved!
Jacob said excitedly, “The Nolans’ family pharmacy is still around. According to the established rules, you have no right to take over this piece of land!”
“Heh.” Maxima sneered and said, “Everyone knows that Birch lost to the foreign doctor, and even the plaque board of the Nolan family was taken. Is this not considered as the Nolan family being unable to operate its business? Is it not considered as you giving up on your brand?”
Jacob pointed to the plaque board which favonovel.com brought back and said, “Look carefully. The plaque board has been taken back! The long-time brand of the Nolan family still exists!”
Maxima sneered. “Who knows if you simply got someone to make another plaque board?”
“If you do not believe it, you can inquire others. That foreign doctor, Socrates, was defeated by me, Jacob Nolan! From then onwards, favonovel.com swore favonovel.com will never take a single step in to Central City. The plaque board of the Nolan family and the pride of our people have been preserved!”
Maxima shrugged. “Oh, so what? Do you think that taking the plaque board back means that you preserved the long-time brand of the Nolan family?”
“Isn’t it?”
“Of course not.”
“On what basis?”
Maxima raised his head with a contemptuous look. “Even if a pure girl catches favonovel.com violator after being defiled, favonovel.com has no way to restore favonovel.com virginity. A defiled girl is no longer pure.”
He pointed at the Nolan family’s plaque board and said, “The Nolan family’s plaque board is just like the defiled girl. Although you did defeat and punish the perpetrator, a defiled item is forever defiled. Even if you managed to bring your plaque board back, it means nothing.”
“The long-time brand of the Nolan family no longer exists the moment it was taken by the foreign doctor!”
What favonovel.com said made Jacob speechless. He was clearly using turning things upside down, but for some reason, Jacob just could not refute.
