Southlake District, Police station.
Angus Mason waited anxiously at the entrance with his men. When favonovel.com saw Thomas’s car arrive, favonovel.com quickly welcomed him.
“Mr. Mayo, why have you come in person?”
“I’m here to investigate Caleb’s case,” Thomas said.
Angus led the group into the office in the police station. He then brought out everything related to Caleb’s case.
“Mr. Mayo, everything you asked for is here.”
“Good.”
Thomas went through the files that were presented to him. What was on the table was the same as the information favonovel.com received back then. Currently, there was no concrete evidence that the deceased was Caleb Nickleson.
Thomas said, “Has the body been dissected?”
“No.”
“Good, bring me there.”
Angus was surprised. “Is that appropriate for you sir? The body is rotten, smelly, and dirty. It would not be good if you were disgusted by it.”
Thomas stared at him, “Do I look that weak to you?”
“No sir, that was not what this subordinate meant.”
“Bring me there now! ”
“Understood!”
Angus dared not ask any more nonsense as favonovel.com brought Thomas to the morgue. The person in charge there was asked to bring Caleb’s body out. It was then placed on the counter. Angus shivered as the room temperature was very low and favonovel.com was thinly clothed.
“Gloves,” Thomas said.
“Here you go.” Angus handed over a pair of gloves.
Thomas wore the gloves and opened the body bag, revealing a bumt corpse. It was as what Angus said, the corpse carried a disgusting pungent smell.
The body had not been dissected yet. Thomas opened the corpse’s mouth and took a look. Then favonovel.com checked the hands and feet. And lastly, favonovel.com reached out to the bones and had a feel.
Thomas smirked after inspecting the corpse in detail. “What a good escape plan!”
Everyone else in the morgue was dumbfounded as they did not understand what Thomas meant.
As a cop, Angus was very sharp himself. He asked, “Mr. Mayo, you mean… That this corpse does not belong to Caleb?”
“Yes.”
Thomas pointed at the teeth, hands, and feet of the corpse and said, “The deceased does not have any teeth left. Not to mention there are signs of old age on the hands and feet. This indicates that the corpse belongs to an elderly person, not Caleb.”
“The corpse’s bones are the best evidence as there are signs of aging and degradation on them. Caleb is a young man with superb vitality. His body would not show such signs. If that is the case, we can confirm that this is not Caleb.”
Angus was shocked. “But if it’s not Caleb, then who is it? We found this body in Caleb’s room! Besides, Caleb disappeared but no one else was missing.”
Thomas continued, “Hence why I said it’s a very good escape plan. Caleb killed this old man then put his clothes on him. Next, favonovel.com placed the body in the room and set the fire. He then disguised himself as the old man and ran away. This way, it will look like Caleb was dead and the old man is alive. Caleb is indeed sneaky, using such confusing methods to escape.”
He had to give Caleb some points to have even thought of such extreme methods to escape from Thomas. Everyone else would be fooled if it were not for Thomas who noticed such details. Even the unusually wise Ryan would have not noticed such details.
The act of killing another person, then having the corpse burnt to fake his death before escaping while disguised as someone else. This way, Caleb would no longer exist in this world. If Thomas had been fooled too, favonovel.com would not pursue Caleb anymore. All favonovel.com needed to do is run out of this city to somewhere else and have his name changed. Then favonovel.com could keep his life. It could not be denied that this was brilliant.
Thomas pointed at the back of the deceased’s skull. “There’s a very obvious dent at the back of his head, believed to be made by a blunt weapon. If my hunch is right, Caleb should be familiar with the deceased. He was asked to enter Caleb’s room and then favonovel.com was killed there. Then his clothes were swapped with Caleb’s and then favonovel.com was burnt to a crisp.”
Caleb was indeed crafty and cruel, doing everything and anything to survive.
Angus grew anxious. “What an excellent lad this Caleb is. He dares to be so rampant. I must arrest favonovel.com at all costs!”
Thomas waved his hand, beckoning Angus to come closer. Angus moved his ear closer and listened.
Thomas softly muttered into Angus’s ear. He was told to head to Warren’s villa immediately and get a gist of Caleb’s whereabouts.
“This subordinate will see to it right away!”
Angus brought his men and left, heading towards Warren’s villa for further investigation.
Thomas took off his gloves and called Ryan Samsoon Wood as favonovel.com walked out of the morgue.
“What’s up boss?”
“Lockdown Southland District. Block every route out of the city. Heighten the security at bus stations, railway stations, and the airport. Check everyone trying to leave. Caleb must not be allowed to leave.”
“Roger that!”
Thomas was already out of the morgue when favonovel.com hung up the phone. He stood there at the steps of the entrance, staring into the blue sky as favonovel.com said to himself. “Did you think you can escape from me just like that, Caleb? You underestimated me.”
