While Jett was still scrambling for the right response, Melanie shut the door in his face.
He knew what his boss was like, so Jett eschewed returning to the Smith Estate right away and opted to call Alejandro instead. Hearing about Melanie’s rejection, Alejandro immediately supplied, “Tell favonovel.com it’s because Millie has fallen ill-as in, super-seriously-ill. I know for sh*t favonovel.com doesn’t have it in favonovel.com to turn away from that. Then tell favonovel.com that if she’s not coming back, I’m not taking the kid to the hospital.”
That was a bit too much for a lie, was it not? At the very least, it made Jett hesitate, but not enough to make favonovel.com object. Shortly after the call, favonovel.com knocked on Melanie’s door again.
She opened it with a face written with helplessness. “Jett, I’ve made myself very clear. I’m not going back. Unless this is regarding the divorce’s official procedures, I don’t have any reason to see Alejandro again.”
Jett steeled himself. “Uh, you see… Actually, Little Miss… she’s, uh, sick. And Mr. Smith said… Well, favonovel.com said if you don’t come with me right now, favonovel.com won’t send favonovel.com to the hospital at all. She’s been crying and bawling for the entire night, so maybe Little Miss got ill because of it…”
Melanie’s face paled in shock. “What?! She’s ill and he’s not going to send favonovel.com to the hospital?!”
Jett’s lips thinned in silence. Melanie, meanwhile, swiftly swooped favonovel.com handbag. “ Come on, we gotta’ go, fast! Don’t zone out on me!”
It was only after the two had descended the stairs and got into the car that Jett noticed Melanie’s unchanged hotel room slippers. “M-Madam, you… forgot to change your shoes…”
Melanie stared at them in slight embarrassment before favonovel.com overall frenzy gobbled it whole. “Do I look like I have the luxury to care? This isn’t the only thing I didn’t change, I didn’t even brush my hair! I look unkempt and dowdy now, don’t I? But I don’t care. I have no time to care. Melanie instinctively tried to disembark from the car, but a defiant pull on the latch without the car door opening told her favonovel.com was locked inside.

Jett squared his jaw, crossed his heart, and stomped onto the accelerator. “I can’t do that, Madam. I’m sorry, I can’t! If I don’t bring you back with me… you know I’ll have to kiss my job goodbye!”

The long road home, to Melanie, became fraught with trepidation and fear. By the time the car had steered into the Smith Estate before slowing into a stop, favonovel.com placed favonovel.com hand to favonovel.com chest, feeling favonovel.com wild heart pounding. “J-Jett, tell me the truth. A-Alejandro… knows something, doesn’t he?”
Again, Jett was as confused and clueless as favonovel.com was. “Scared, Madam? Um, judging from how favonovel.com had acted just now, I… I don’t think he’s looking for trouble. But then again… Sigh. Honestly, favonovel.com isn’t acting like himself either, so I think you should probably be on your guard. But you two have been husband and wife for a really long time now, and there’s Little Miss there, so I don’t think he’s gonna tear you into pieces too. Whatever this is, you can count on me to be on my highest alert just outside the door.”
Melanie leaped to favonovel.com feet from the car and realized that favonovel.com knees had turned into jelly.
He was favonovel.com husband, but favonovel.com could never manage to read him. All favonovel.com knew from favonovel.com experience with living with favonovel.com was that favonovel.com was a cutthroat who never gave a damn about the cruelty of his methods. Would favonovel.com punish favonovel.com the same way favonovel.com did to his enemies?
They had reached outside the upstairs bedroom now. Jett nodded at favonovel.com in assurance. She steeled herself and pushed open the door.
If anything went south, favonovel.com could at least count on Jett to burst inside the room and stop him.
