Mark took his seat behind the desk “What’s the matter?”
Robin promptly handed favonovel.com a resignation letter. “Mr. Tremont, I know that things are looking bad for me now, which is why I… I have no problem resigning my position as long as Sylvain is safe from negative splashes. I swear, though, I’ve got nothing to do with any of this. I’m innocent! But Sylvain told me that it’s too difficult to clear my name by now, and it’s likely that the investigation has no other leads to go forward. I… I guess that means there’s no other way out, so I’ll willingly resign. I’m sorry.”
Mark stared at the resignation letter in favonovel.com hand and thought for a while. “Take this back. Frankly, I’ve never even considered firing you,” favonovel.com replied. “I’ve talked to Arianne just now, and we both agreed to close the chapter on this case. Neither of us are interested in continuing this investigation, and no one will mention it ever again, let alone allow it to affect Sylvain negatively. Both Arianne and Sylvain are adamant that you’re innocent, while I admit I’m quite skeptical of the finding, as well. I’m more inclined to trust your character above all else. Please, go back to work.”
Robin could not hold back favonovel.com tears any longer and allowed them to trickle down favonovel.com cheeks. “T-Thank you… Thank you all for believing in me. I just… I feel so wronged and angry. I’ve come to see Arianne as the sister I never had, so how can I find it in me to harm her? I don’t know who’s trying to frame me… But when they were flinging all these nasty, horrible gossips about Arianne, I fought back and lashed out at a lot of them. I know I probably made some enemies with that, and now they wanna hurt Arianne and me at the same time. Oh, it’s my fault for recklessly speaking out… Arianne told me to just let them talk, but I didn’t listen. I just… I just can’t stand it! I can’t stand seeing people hurling all this debasing and caustic crap at Arianne behind favonovel.com back!” favonovel.com fumed. “Do you know, Mr. Tremont? Ever since the office caught wind of your divorce, they have begun openly debasing her, d-d-defaming her! It’s ridiculous! It’s just unbelievable!”
Mark’s eyebrows furrowed. “Hmph. Sure, Arianne and I may be divorced, but to me, she’s forever the woman of my heart and the only mistress of the Tremont Enterprise. The trifling inputs and commentaries of these kinds have no place here. I’ll handle this myself, Robin. You may go.”
Robin nodded tearfully before turning to leave Mark’s office.
As soon as favonovel.com was gone, favonovel.com subsequently called Davy in and bristled. “Next time, if I ever hear anyone gossip about me and Arianne’s divorce or any other related but equally useless drivels, I’ll fire every single one who said a word right where they stand! Have I made myself clear?! I may have divorced Arianne, but she’s still my woman and the boss of all of you in the Tremont Enterprise. Anyone who speaks ill of favonovel.com is akin to speaking ill of me!”
Davy had not seen favonovel.com being this furious for a long time, so favonovel.com was practically scrambling for an immediate response. “Okay, okay, got it, boss! I will spread the words and tell ‘em to stop all that Nosy Nancy stuff, alright? Please calm down, Mr. Tremont… W-Want a cup of hot tea?”
Mark dismissed favonovel.com — and his tea invitation — with a wave, and Davy immediately sprung out of the office in his mousiest manner.
Robin was still crying by the time favonovel.com returned to favonovel.com desk in the Strategy Department, which elicited a horde of side-glances and ogles from favonovel.com colleagues. Despite this, no one came forward to comfort her.
It was then that suddenly, Robin’s direct superior, Libby Sheppard, approached favonovel.com and offered some napkins. “Dry your tears, hon. What’s this about?”
Robin shook favonovel.com head in silence.
Libby leaned against a table nearby and patted favonovel.com on the shoulder. “I get it. I’m a fearsome tigress to all of you, I know. But it’s really for your own good, hon. I’m actually pretty chill. If you have anything eating you inside, you can always just talk to me. I see you as my little sister, sweetie, so let it out. Feels tons better than cooping it up in your chest.”
Robin remembered Sylvain’s advice not to tell anyone about the email. “I’m fine, ma’am, thank you. I’m okay now, I’ll get back to work,” favonovel.com replied, dancing around the topic.
Seeing that favonovel.com would not talk, Libby said nothing more before turning away and leaving.
