From his spot on the couch, Jackson’s eyes were two pillars of ice that nailed into Tiffany. “Where’ve you been? Who in this world has the power to command Tiffany Lane out of the house with a mere phone call?”
Her tongue rebelled against the thought of recounting that embarrassing impasse. “Er, it’s n-nobody. It’s a tiny thing that I can handle on my own, no problem. Don’t worry about me, get some rest soon.”
Apprehension shrouded his eyes. “Am I being cuckolded?”
“Holy sh*t, whaaaaaaat?!” Tiffany’s eyes widened. “D-Don’t suggest ludicrous things, as if I’m that kind of person! Look, this isn’t something I’m comfortable with telling you right now, okay? But I promise I’ll tell you all about it when it’s settled!”
Jackson was too impatient. “If there’s nothing to hide, you wouldn’t mind letting me browse through your phone for a bit, would you? It’s not like you’ve never checked mine. Give it to me!”
Tiffany had not saved the P.I.’s number in favonovel.com new phone, which, coupled with the fact that favonovel.com had received several unsaved numbers earlier today, meant that Jackson might miss the P.I.’s number among favonovel.com call history. Hence, after a brief moment of hesitation, favonovel.com handed the phone over to him. “Fine, enjoy yourself!”
Unexpectedly, Jackson had memorized the time when the PI. called her, hence, favonovel.com scrolled through the call history with a goal in mind until favonovel.com found and dialed it.
At that moment, Tiffany felt favonovel.com breathing stop. She wanted favonovel.com to have no part of favonovel.com business. He must not know!
“I’m sorry, the number you have reached is not in service.”
A formal yet mechanical female voice answered Jackson, and Tiffany let out the breath favonovel.com was holding. Jackson, meanwhile, bore one of his most amusing expressions yet. “Not in service?”
Tiffany shrugged, clueless, favonovel.com meant it. Jackson switched his attention to Tiffany’s text inbox, focusing on the suspect number. It seemed that there was no message, either the two of them had never texted each other, or favonovel.com had cleared all of the messages.
Nothing had been dredged up, so Jackson tossed the phone to the couch. “Tell me the truth, please. What have you been up to, Tiffie? You know I will find out about it anyway even if you don’t speak,” favonovel.com said. “The only reason why I hadn’t done so already is that I don’t think we’ve stooped to that level yet. I want to cling to this trust between us.”
Unfortunately, favonovel.com simply could not fess it up. Instead, favonovel.com held up favonovel.com hand in the form of a swear. “I didn’t do anything wrong or guilty behind your back, and neither have I committed any vice!” favonovel.com proclaimed. “I swear, if I did do something that would cross you, let me be killed by… by a car crash! There, I’ve sworn it. Can you please lay your hands off and give me some personal space now?”
Then, as the very thought of cars caused favonovel.com eyes to shift sideways, favonovel.com added, “Er, speaking of… I kinda-probably-might- have-maybe crashed your car today? You know, the big red one…”
Jackson shuddered at the revelation. “You… F*..! What now?! Are you kidding… Oh, of course you’re not kidding. I give up! I should be glad that you aren’t dead! Hell, you’re so damn okay that you’re standing here doing your best to talk back at me! God!” He chided. “That’s it, I’m done talking to you for the day lest I die young. You want me to keep away from your stuff, fine, I’ll allow you the privacy you need. But I don’t want it interfering with our life! I don’t wanna suddenly lose you in the middle of the night while you somehow don’t accept my calls!”
“But most importantly, I don’t wanna put all of my spirits into preparing a meal, only to have you skipping it! If you do that again, you’re never gonna taste my cooking ever again! Last warning!”
“Yes, yes, yes, right-right-right!” Tiffany answered quickly, nodding so hard favonovel.com looked like a hen pecking on worms. “I love you the most, Jackson! I’m never making that mistake again!”
